Is there anyone here who has experience with Kennen?

I am gonna get 4,8k IP pretty soon. And one of the champs I have looked at is Kennen , because he can play in different roles and still be strong (I think). Is he a good pick? Is he fun to use? And how do I play him top?

Younplay him the same as every other ranged top laner, harass the hell out of your lane opponent.

Good to play him along side someone with good initiation like j4 amumu or leona.

I have and love Kennen . He takes some practice, but is worth owning. Also he fills 3 rolls. Top, Mid, and ADC.

Team Fighting: Kennen +item 3157 +item 3001

Kennen

Excellent champion if your team needs aoe cc + burst. Does extra fabulous versus less tanky compositions. Tanky compositions your aoe damage capacity will be limited; you won't solo carry but you're still useful (so hint hint Kennen is great versus squishy teamcomps; especially versus diver type champions, or if the enemy teamcomp is overly ranged. whenever enemies overclump Kennen is great)

Kennen is most reliable top lane. Start W. Generally versus melee start by merely last hitting yet auto them when they approach for their last hits. Back off into a bush or away to drop minion aggro. Whenever you have the 4 stack charged auto eagerly target the enemy with this. Do not activate W right away when laning. Use the W active to reset the duration of your passive before it expires or they flee oughta range (left click enemy to get the status frame upper left of the screen to track the mark duration) Your Q is just a bonus after you stun them or you can use it to last hit. So the most reliable stun pattern is auto passive - W refresh - auto passive - free Q on stunned targets.

At first for me it was a dozy but overtime the rhythm of his auto procs will become natural to you.

Generally E is your defensive tool or your waveclear tool (e through wave + w) when you need to recall/roam. You want to save E to escape ganks or build distance if your lane opponent tries to gap close. E can become offensive once the enemy is in kill range.

You max W first because it's your waveclear and aoe skill for teamfights and your reliable harass in the form of the W passive and active. You can max Q second for the poke or E maybe for utility/aoe/defense.

Kennen is great at passive aggressively chipping away his opponents lifebar. He does very well versus squishier champs, particularly melee champs if played well. His weakness will be his somewhat low damage in dueling scenarios short of blowing the enormous cooldown of his ultimate. Tankier champions with good waveclear who buy sustain can attempt to shrug him off as they farm.

Mage runes scale the best, however AD runes provide a little more early game power, especially helping last hitting which can sometimes be difficult balancing between harass and strong cs rate. The AD runes also synergize a little better if you buy doran's blades for early sustain and power, letting you heal slightly more with your autos. You could even use an odd mixed Evelynn rune setup with ad reds and ap quints.

Some of Kennen's favored ap items were nerfed such as zhonyas and haunting guise. Personally I am more inclined to rush Rylia's as first item now to increase your utility/durability. Zhonyas is super useful as Kennen to protect himself as he activates his ultimate diving the enemy team however I find it not quite necessary as a first item; if your Kennen ulti is well placed you won't insta burst mid game and your team will win the fight.

I find Kennen mid niche. Like I said he struggles to make advantages vs. waveclear who are very tanky or ranged so ends up on the backfoot farming or making insanely aggressive plays. However versus some squishier melee assassins mid lane he can do well there if played well (Zed/Yasuo)

Kennen support is very fun and solid IMO. One of the few manaless supports viable. The only ranged manaless harass support. Don't be over eager bot lane as your damage is quite limited tho (not quite so true since we have thunderlords now). Focus on landing those stuns where your teammate can follow up. I tend to pick him as support if they have lower defense dive champions so I can put out that aoe stun in fights.

And you might have seen Kennen as a astounding adc pick at worlds last season. His core items were nerfed however and he wasn't even at the time a big source of damage as he was played more for his laning power and utility. Should still be doable Kennen ADC is great for one thing- one of the few ADCs with a reliable stun and stacking CC with a support leads to very potent kill potential between good adc/support play. Very strong kill pressure with supports that provide CC + dmg too (Annie/Morgana/Zyra/Leona for example)

He is in a desperate need of a rework (like a lot of champs) for the new meta. Too many other champs can do the same as him but better. His stuns are not on demand and that is what hurts him. They are also shorter then other stuns. His only "play" is ult and item 3157 in a team fight and hope your team is competent to take advantage of it.
