Need help - 10+ game losing streak

BluePolarizer··2 votes·5,793 views

I'm a jungle/top main who dropped 2 divisions in 3 days from plat 2 promos to barely hanging on in plat 4, from a 70% win rate over 20 games to a 40% win rate.

I can't seem to carry like I used to. In the first games of my losing streak I was mostly losing close games, and I've been learning alot. didn't think I was on tilt since I was able to rationally analyze what was going wrong. However I've been getting stomps recently, showing that the losing streak is getting even worse and I'm not even learning anymore. I'm unable to analyze the reason for losing, with games such as an intent feeding Zed running it down mid or getting cheesed by Blitz+Kha'Zix making it so that I don't know what my own mistakes are. It's just a downward spiral.

I don't think I'm playing that differently. I'm still using my mains in ranked. I just dunno what I'm doing wrong.

I find taking an aram or normal break really helps break a ranked losing streak.

BluePolarizer1 votes

I also have an ARAM losing streak! It's insane!

I usually love ARAMs but ever since getting stomped even in ARAM I am like... damn.

AramsAreBest1 votes

Yeah Aram's can be like that. It also helps me if I play a normal but choose a role id usually not play. Or do like fiddle support.

These wins don't even feel like wins after that 10 game losing streak. I don't feel like I accomplish anything. All it feels like is stomping. It wasn't like when I was rising to plat 2 after quitting for a few months and every game I felt I was learning and getting better.

I recently had a losing streak and dropped two divisions and felt the same way (but I'm in Silver not Platinum). It was troubling because I was having outstanding personal performances (S grades and even a high kill/assist count, zero death game) and still losing. It didn't matter what champion, what position, or what time I played. I started climbing divisions again as soon as the losing streak ended. Last season, I had a similar experience without the outstanding personal performances while struggling to get back to Silver from Bronze.

I think that the system actually needs about 200-300 games to place most players accurately. If you think about it that way, it means that a 10 game losing streak doesn't necessarily mean that much in the larger scheme. With the right attitude you will continue to learn and grow even while going through a losing streak. I improved my game even while scoring S grades. I didn't end a game (even a stomp) with the belief that because I got an S grade it meant that I couldn't have done something different to win.

The really troubling thing is when you don't feel like you are learning anything (which is your next main complaint). I've been there too and it is my opinion that this usually means that you are blind to the things you can do to improve. I don't mean that you could've won the games you lost if you did something different. I mean that there are things in the game that you simply do not know and because you don't know them you can't even see how to improve.

My advice is to take a break; forget what you think you know. If you have to play, then practice a champion you don't know in normals. It is best if you play a position you don't main. Try different things. You can also watch other players stream while you take a break from playing ranked and try to learn from what they do.

Sounds like you have the yips or just bad luck.
I'm not a LOL pro but my advice would be:

  1. Sleep. You have know idea how much better you are at everything you do when well rested.
  2. Change when you play. It may just be me but sometimes the Q is just full of whack jobs (oddly seems to correspond to when school is out. . . ) JG never really carries solo, sure you can get fed and carry late, but you need a team to hold their lanes, set up ganks, set wards, cover you when you go for the Dragon or group at the Baron. The point if you play with some fresh folks (or maybe some friends) who can take the pressure off you might get your mojo back.
  3. Acupuncture. no seriously. the yips are a mental block that keeps you form being able to do something you normally can do easily. Nobody really knows the cause or a definitive cure but there is anecdotal evidence that Acupuncture really can help.
  4. Just stay positive! and you'll work it out

thanks! When I get in a super bad losing streak I go to the gym and do more work at home, and avoid the nutjob prime time of 2-5 PM. But that hasn't helped.

i usually stop playing after a 3 games in a row loss.

I think the biggest thing you need to fix first is your Hecarim. Take GHOST on Hecarim, not Ignite. Then go Warrior, not Cinderhulk, because your ganks need to do damage in the early-mid game.

BluePolarizer1 votes

I have 380K mastery points and 100+ ranked games this season on Hecarim, as well as 300+ ranked games on Hecarim last season, all in plat (plat 1 most of last season). My overall season win rate on Hecarim speaks for itself. I do not think my build is the problem. I am amused that you'd think that.

I only take build advice from high diamond+ hecarim mains with hundreds of games, and only a subset of those that I trust and know are good. No offense but I consider nobody else is qualified.

xxxDogmanxxx1 votes

None taken. I'm only in Diamond 5 in my main account, so that's not high diamond. If it works for you, then ok.

Boulderox1 votes

whats your champ pool, may be able to see some problems?

BluePolarizer1 votes

I main Hecarim MasterYi jungle and Malphite Quinn Maokai top. I play Hecarim or Malphite most of the time.

When I support I almost always pick Nautilus Lulu Brand .

I prefer tanky initiators or mobile duelists.

I don't play mid or AD and I don't play super squishies.

I don't think my champ pool is the problem because I've also climbed with the exact same champ pool, so something else is going on. Maybe it's the patch, maybe it's something else, but it's unlikely to be my build or my champ pool.

YOU JUST DON'T HAVE THE SKILLS. ACCEPT IT. AND LEARN THE GAME.

LET ME GIVE YOU SOME REAL TIPS BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

WHEN I FIRST GOT DIAMOND, I HAD BAD LOSING STREAKS AND WENT DOWN TO PLAT 1. BUT EVERY TIME I DID, IT TOOK ME LESS THAN 24 HOURS TO CLIMB BACK TO DIAMOND.

IF YOU TRULY HAVE THE SKILLS YOU CLIMB NO PROBLEM.

hmmmm, It appears you really like hecarim, and i feel he is one of your better champs, he is also very strong in this meta currently :), have you tried the new summoner 6, as with the ghost buff, there is a GREATER use for his passive, = more damage :D. I will say item 3748 isn't a very good item imo, it doesn't help unless you stack hp, which you want more resistances and speed. Also recommend item 3742 somewhere, as stated, more speed on Hecarim = more damage. Malphite & Maokai are VERY good, malphite just remember is very reliant on ult to be useful, and maokai, i find is one of the most useful reguardless, if you are doing awful, just be a glorified ult/peeler for your adc, can work wonders. MasterYi i don't play so i cannot give feedback. Supports as well, not my champs so my apologies.

I do not think my build is the problem, because obviously, I have had success with the build fluctuating around 60% win rate. I only take build advice from a few high diamond+ Hecarim mains with 100+ games. I do not consider anyone else qualified. This is no offense to you, but I do not think anyone who plays Hecarim as a FOTM or casually has the deep insight into his power spikes and play patterns that a 300+ ranked game over 2 seasons main does.

It is everything BUT the build that matters.

DIAMOND+ PLAYER WITH 3 GAMES > PLAT WITH 500 GAMES. YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE BECAUSE YOU BELONG THERE. [zombie-brand-clap]

But you aren't diamond so I don't see the issue here.

The issue is that you are crying about how you can't get out of plat and need help. I offered help as a better player. You reject any advice. Never learn, stay plat. Cry all you want but that doesn't make you good.

What does that have to do with you not being diamond and not being better? Post on your diamond account then lol?

I have no reason to prove anything. You ask for advice, people give you advice, and then you ignore it. You are just bitter and don't want to improve, you can just keep playing hecarim. Make that 1000 games and never learn. SIMPLE.

People like you do keep me up there and yourself down low.

Always be open to try new things man. Im no high elo but you should really be more open minded. Ignite is cool and all on the pony but the new ghost is pretty good. Maybe its not your build or maybe it is. Theres a lot that can lead to why you are on a losing streak.

Just be open minded mah boi because you can learn a great deal, even from some not as good as you. Not everyone knows everything.

Well only reason I said builds was because ignite is good, but there are ways you can get more out of him. But that is fine, I tried

Simple. Riot's formula says you can't have above a 50% win rate. When you do, you will be most likely paired with people who have horrendous win rates (20-40% typically). This is to drag you back down, or as the system sees it shows how good of a player (completely carry) you are on a terrible team.

This also happened to me before, i always go on a big win streak, after that follows a long ass losing streak.

What i usually do is take a break from Lol, play other games like WoW or something then comeback. I climbed 2 ladder today from silver 5 to silver 3. And what you can do is play with your friends since that the Dynamic queue allow you to bring 4 people with you to ranked now, you will most likely win. Now i know that it will hurt your mmr, i am also a solo player, i rarely and almost never duo or premades but play with them 1 or 2 games so you can get some LP back and start climbing again.

I think there are 4 possibilities:

  1. What you said
  2. Aliens are to blame
  3. It is the work of the Illuminati
  4. Gypsy voodoo curse

It could be any of these but my gut says it is probably Aliens. . . .

Right now, you are probably hyper tilted. Play a game that doesn't really involve stress - Minecraft, Webkinz, farmville. Something that will let you chill for a bit, and remember better games. Or go outside and play. Basically, do stuff that does not involve League of Legends. Give yourself between 4 hours and a day, depending on how chill you are, and you have my permission to continue ranked. [slayer-jinx-catface]

BluePolarizer1 votes

I'm at work. Work most definitely involves zero League of Legends.

Gibberwatt1 votes

Yeah, but it isn't fun. I guess I forgot to mention, the non-lol has to be fun

Macanimus1 votes

I would say that you should either tank a break or try to really focus on the game. I agree with some of the others when they say play some normals or ARAMs.
