Whats up with Varus? Thematically /gameplay wise.

His ult is functional but honestly kind of boring and impractical. It seems like he would benefit more from a knockback than a snare (although the whole chaining mechanic is really good for team fighting. From what I read of the lore, Varus's form is imperfect (due to the nature of his awakening?)

Wouldn't it at least thematically make more sense for his ultimate to be some sort of buff that allows the darkin Varus to take control of the shared body from Kai/Valmar? If we're going to keep the ultimate the same, again I believe it would be more interesting (at least thematically) to have Varus 's body become consumed by the darkin for the animation of the ability. So say we decide to keep the snare, maybe shift his W active to his ultimate as a post buff that lingers for a duration of time.

With that said the ability could become something like this:

(R) Chain of Corruption: The Darkin Varus seizes control of his body gaining "malevolent force" for 'X' seconds and unleashes out a tendril of corruption that infects the first enemy champion hit, dealing magic damage and Root icon rooting them for 2 seconds while inflicting them with full stacks of Blighted Quiver Blight over 1.5 seconds. This will spread to all uninfected enemy champions. New Chain of corruption can be charged for 4 seconds, and at full charge, will stun all enemies impacted.

While in the state **"malevolent force" **, Varus' (Q)Piercing Arrows cooldown is reduced to 5/4/3 seconds (at level 18) and deals 'X%' of the target's missing health bonus magic damage, increased by '0% − 50%' (based on Piercing Arrow channel time), for a maximum 'X%' of the target's missing health. (or add this to his passive after 2-3 takedowns scaling down)

In all seriousness how and why the hell is he shooting tendrils out of a bow?? Why does an ability talking that "corrupts you" rooting you instead of dealing DoT? I figure League doesn't have a ability charging heavy ADC yet and honestly charging Varus' Q is one of my favorite parts about him why not expand on that? Or instead of buffing Q damage make it split the Q like Heimerdinger Rockets.

Same thing with his reworked W. Of the few games I played with him it took me like 5 games to remember that his W had been changed and even then its basically just a 'x' ability does more damage tack on. It honestly just feels like Riot was like "fuck wait people are complaining about his W being boring the fuck do we do?"

He's like the only Darkin that doesn't have a knock up. I mean i get that he's 3 fucking people in 1 body but it seems like some of that Darkin pride would at least give him a knock up. Sorry haha I just thought it was weird how out of the 3 darkin champs (** 5 if you consider new Aatrox a new champion/assassin Kayn **) only varus is the only one without any hard cc/ a knock up. I'm not even sure how you would knock someone up with a bow like maybe:

W/E - Varus fires a series of powerful arrows into the ground and after a brief delay, they rise from the ground at target location dealing X damage and knocking up enemies in the area for x seconds.

Honestly his E is fine, I just figured it was worth mentioning. Also seems a little odd that a Darkin archer unleashing a storm of arrows on you does meh damage and slows you.

AND WHERE IS THAT VO UPDATE!???

TL;DR his kit feels off.

garbage champion who is relevant because rageblade exists in it's current form. He needs an updated kit. A useful passive, a better E and more range to his basic attacks and his 50 HP back.

I'm wondering where he will beif rageblade gets gutted/removed

He'd be in Kalista tier as an ADC IMO. He'd probably only be played as lethality poke Varus.

You need to add a tldr because all i see is a big wall of text that i'm really not interested in reading.

Something that always bothered me about Varus is that after he proc's Blight stacks with all abilties, his W Passive becomes useless. In the past the damage could be noticeable before the Rageblade nerfs, before the W nerfs, before the Passive Attack Speed nerfs, and before the Wit's End change. And recently I just don't find his CC/Utility reliable anymore, as that is the main thing that he brings instead of raw carrying potential like the rest of Marksman.

  • R (Cleansable) or the duration can be reduced (Mercury Trends).
  • E zone is too small and lasts too short for the Grievous Wounds effect to take place.
  • W Passive Damage is completely non-existent if not built AP or the enemy builds (Ninja Tabbies).
  • Passive is just unoriginal, not really interesting and has no actual means of activating, unless you kill something (there are cases when you aren't surrounded by minions and you can't trigger it in a 1v1 scenario), or get an assist.
  • Hybrid scalling is a bit meh when compared to someone like Ezreal or Kai'Sa.
  • He is meant to be an artillery marksman/caster but he relies on his high cooldown Q ability for high range, while struggling to fulfill the criteria of artillery in basic attacks section due to his relatively low Attack Range which leads to the issue of unable to kite due to his Immobility.

His abilities are all just jangled up at this point, giving W a random active just because Q wasn't fulfilling the dream of a sniper champion. Which overcomplicates things, there shouldn't be a W active and they should of just buffed other abilities like E Slow and nerf the Base and Scalling Damage of Q while giving it Missing Health Damage instead. Because having an Active that only empowers one ability instead of all of them in some way is just a little questionable or simply put not-fluid.

There are other issues but that's all I will say for now. And I know that every single issue listed, shouldn't be fixed because every champion needs a downside, weakness or counterplay. So my preposition is to completely start him off from scratch, think of a clear direction, playstyle, the fluidity of abilities, his combo, his strengths, his weaknesses.

I actually had a lot of ideas for various of changes to his abilities but I was never able to pin them all down to have a complete full kit. So I thought I would share some of them. These ideas won't be in order as they are random suggestions...

.

##Passive Alternative 1: Blight Affliction

  • Varus gains X% (+X% of bonus Attack Speed) Bonus Attack Speed the more units are affected by Blight for Y Seconds. Varus gains additional X% per additional Blight stacks he afflicts.

Explanation - This Passive would thematically make more sense if following the Blight/Corruption theme, as he afflicts more Corruption the stronger he gets.

.

##R Alternative 1: Chain of Corruption

  • Varus unleashes a tendril of Corruption that upon contact with an enemy will Root the first target and Slow other targets in the area by XX/XX/XX%, while it deals damage over time for Y seconds.

Explanation - The idea behind this is to give Varus a some sort of tool to allow him to duel better, kite better while enemies are in a MUCH LARGER R zone. While also nerfing the 5 man CC ability for Pro-Play.

.

##W Alternative 1: Blighted Quiver

  • When Varus detonates Blight stacks on enemies, he deals % Max Health Damage as magic damage, and if he detonates 3 Stacks of Blight he disables any bonuses that the enemy receives from their ally (Shields, Armor/Magic Resistance bonus, Bonus Health, Movement Speed Bonus, Attack Speed Bonus, and etc...)

Explanation - To simply put, if it followed the Corruption theme again, I imagine he would be able to weaken enemies or take away their strengths in some way. Now that would be unique for a Marksman in my opinion, of course there would need some balancing changes to be done to make this work and not make him too strong.

.

##W Alternative 2: Blighted Quiver

  • When Varus detonates Blight stacks on enemies, he deals % Max Health Damage as magic damage, and if he detonates 3 Stacks of Blight he gains a X% amount of Attack Speed (his Passive would no longer be the one he has now, since this would take its place).

Explanation - The whole idea was to make him be able to gain Attack Speed other than having to kill something for you to gain that bonus, so in short make it more accessible.
