Iceborn + Sterak's on Kindred

I am going to start with a disclaimer. I am not saying this is a 'hidden OP', or even a great combo, but I do believe that it works fairly well and I would like to hear some opinions on it.

Kindred Passive Lets be honest, a good majority of Kindred's damage comes from her passive, so as long as you are able to pick up a few stacks you will still be able to deal a decent amount of damage in the end. So my theory is, stay alive and have the utility to participate in the kills that ultimately give you stacks and you will get those much needed stacks.

item 3025 Iceborn Gauntlets (2700 g) Sheen is actually a great effect on Kindred because Wolf's Frenzy causes Dance of Arrow's cooldown to be just longer than the cooldown for sheen, giving a fairly consistent amount of enhanced damage. Kindred's base AD is the second lowest in the game at level 18, so this is really not the greatest reason for why I like this item. In my experience, Kindred has some problems with mana consumption, and Iceborn gives 500 mana. These along with 20% CDR and 65 Armor make this a fairly balanced defensive and offensive item. Edit: Oh yeah, and the slow effect will help you to stick to enemies in order to land auto attacks and passive damage.

item 3053 Sterak's Gage (2700 g) Even with the bonus 25% base AD, this doesn't make Kindred into a bruiser, but it does help. What I am really looking for with this item is the 400 HP, and the fact that it is a fairly cheap item.

Again, I understand that there are better combos, but I think these actually work pretty well in the sense that they give a good combination of offensive and defensive stats and are cheap enough to make an early Kindred game begin to snowball.

Strong knowledge of Kindred's mechanics, knowing when to use certain abilities, what abilities to max, and how to harass effectively will ultimately become the strongest factors in this working well.

I agree. Solid choice in a build, it's viable.

So what?

So, I don't think people actually use it. At least I haven't seen it.

I've never played kindred...is she mana hungry? If not why not just go with frozen mallet for the slows or does it not proc on ranged champs, if she is mana dependant then yes I see how this is better, plus the 20% CDR is nice...so either one IMO would be good.

I think she is. She has low base AD and low AD scaling. I believe using her abilities (Q specifically) is more important for mobility and .. kind of an auto attack reset. Her W can help with harassment a little but more importantly decreases the static CDR of her Q to 2 seconds while within the range of her W (so causes her to consume more mana in a short time). And her E is a good engage tool. Marks a target and 3 auto attacks later they are dealt %HP damage and slowed.

So her combo is E, auto, Q, W, auto, Q, auto, Q, auto, Q = Dead target. If you don't have enough mana for that, they will probably get away.

I used to mess around with a full on-hit Kindred mid lane. It was pretty fun.

But I always went Frozen Mallet... because... reasons.

his base ad is extremely low. one of the lowest in the game. I mean some people do build trinity force. with iceborn u get more tankiness but less damage. steraks is okay i guess. try it out. kindted damage falls off heavily despite his passive. its really misleading. so late game u probably wont do any damage unless the enemy team lets u auto them without responding. but they should because kindred range is fairly low. kindred is about putting out as much damage. using lamps respite and chuncking down multiple people before your team finishing them off. personally i dont think its a good build

anyway. instead of getting some ad. and some armor. get a lot of ad. and a lot of armor. i'd rather get randuins or sunfire or dead mans + 75 ad item instead of this build. but thats just me

or idk fronze mallet. which is much better than ibg for kiting. and black cleaver. the combined health will make u more tanky than the two items above. i think black cleaver is underrated on kindred. he can stack it pretty fast. and cdr is good on him.

I really should have included in the post that this is really intended as more of a top lane start than an ADC. I think the amount of health and armor would be enough to survive ganks and harassment. The mana and CDR are really so you can harass your lane opponent and farm.
