Why does Gunblade offer more sustain than Death's Dance?

Both items item 3146 item 3812 have the same kind of healing mechanic, yet Gunblade...

Heals you for 15% of all Damage dealt, including Physical, Magic, and True Damage.

But Death's Dance only heals you for just the Physical Damage you deal, why do both items differentiate from each other so much in the healing aspect?

I suspect it could be something to do that Death's Dance has the damage reducement Passive, which causes you to take delayed Bleed damage as True Damage (based on LoLWiki).

Because DD is primarily built around the damage delay, while GB is mostly for the single-target burst it offers and the sustain.

YO! yeah I just assumed the life steal on deaths dance was lack luster for the same reason. I don't think the item is about life steal but instead buys you 3 seconds ideally. Fighting a burst champ while you are using a somewhat squishy life steal build, it buys you the time to life steal enough in general with your entire build to survive the burst.

Well I mean Death's Dance is kind of the best life steal item and Gunblade is not the worst but probably the least used. You buy it for the passive which is ridiculously strong and makes bloodthirsters passive look like a joke. Gunblade is a relic from when this game wasn't homogenized trash and you could do alternate builds on a ton of champs.
