Is ascension better than TT? Should they swap places?
Let's actually talk about this
Ascension has clear objectives, clear strategies, a clear meta, and lasts a short period of time. The game itself has a small map just like TT, and offers a more fight oriented fast paced game experience the way TT does.
Ascension matches won't ever be over 35 minutes unless there's a weird kill only thing going on
TT was released to be a 3v3 game that felt like fighting in the jungle, they tried to make it feel more compact and they wanted it to take less time than SR. the truth of it is: on average TT games last longer due to a failure in map design which allows people to siege and defend almost endlessly
Ascension has its own meta, which seems to favor Supports, then tanks, then fighters and mages (Assassins included here)
TT meta seems to be 3 man cheese comps.
TT is overrun by bots
ascension is not,
The crystal scar map has cleaner textures and a better "In the jungle" feel than the TT map. There is definitely a lot of skill involved including target picking, enemy evasion, outplay mechanics, and map awareness which all combine to create something that encourages team play while allowing for sweet 1v1 fights
now here's the next part
TT 3 man ranked is a smaller pool of people to face off against, it takes a long time to get into a match and honestly the space could be used for ascension
ranked ascension? that's stupid the game is wonky and imbalanced!
yeah true, but it could be easily fixed by specific itemization balance within that game mode, the game offers more in the way of lessons for newer players than TT or Aram, and seems to be more liked than TT at the least.
"But it's just a bonus game"
true, but among the bonus games it sticks out as the best of them, where most of them take place on SR or have a specific gimmick, Ascension feels like its own game, it offers enough complexity to allow for interesting strategy while it's simplistic enough to have a pretty low learning curve. It's different from SR in enough of a way that it wont feel like a shittier version of 5v5 norms the way TT honestly feels. The game in and of itself is more fleshed out than Hexakill, TT, Definitely not Dominion, or nexus siege and doesn't lend itself to the absurdities of modes like one for all, nemesis draft, or Urf.
Ok but it's not good enough to always be a mode right?
I disagree, there may be a few things on the map that need refining.. like maybe a vision buff to deal with teemo traps, maybe it needs to be draft pick instead of 5 ban blind pick, but it definitely is at its core a solid mode.
are all pretty good
