The length of Dashes are now reduced by Slows

And at the same time...

Boots of Swiftness

**NEW: ** UNIQUE Passive: Steadfast: Prevents dashes from being shortened by slowing effects.

(Removed old passive of slow reduction. +40 movement speed remains.)

There.

  1. Now the Mobility Creep is under control, by causing champions with constant dashes/ridiculous mobility to have some counterplay;

  2. Older champions who don't have mobility but rely on slows aren't screwed anymore (think Ashe and Karthus );

  3. Boots of Swiftness are suddenly an actually useful item for once, that would be bought by many champions ({{perhaps LeeSin and Kalista ), at least against team comps with a number of slows;

  4. Champions considered broken by 'extreme mobility' (LeeSin) are indirectly nerfed by requiring them to buy Boots of Swiftness against certain matchups. (For example, if you're Ashe Ashe , and the enemy team has LeeSin, he might have to buy Swiftness boots instead of, say, merc treads, in order to maintain his current mobility power. Thus indirectly nerfing him by making him miss out of the slight bonuses from other boot types.)

And lastly, a series of melee champions are given Steadfast as part of their kit naturally.

(So that they don't become infinitely kited by slows. This also gives them a slight lead against champions that dash away forever, and so are otherwise uncatchable, as long as you can slow them - thus helping balance melees against the ranged/mobility creep as well.)

What do you guys think?

I don't really like the "slows reduce dash" idea. Seems like a really blunt-force trauma kind of solution. It would probably accomplish the goal, but it has so much potential to just be unfun as hell to actually have to play with. Slows are so prevalent in League that it's just going to lead to dashing mechanics feeling like shit in the vast majority of teamfighting situations (and the other situations turn into a game of "try to predict when you won't be debuffed by some random slow"). Not knowing what range my ability is actually going to have just seems like it would be ungodly frustrating to play with. I can see this being the kind of thing that makes people want to chuck a keyboard out the window. There has to be a way of making immobile melees feel better without just making other abilities not work effectively.

Maybe? Who are you thinking of? As I see it, the champions who have a dash don't need it, and the champions who don't have a dash can't use it. Is there someone specific you had in mind?

My biggest concern with your new swiftness boots is that with how prolific slows are, they would become extremely core on dashing champions in virtually every game (depending on how much slows reduced the range of dashes of course). I wouldn't need to be Ashe to ensure a Lee Sin is slowed most of the time in a fight; most team comps can do that pretty easily. I think these boots might just lead to a situation where mobile champions almost always buy the same boot (lowering their choices), it minimizes the effect the dash-reduction mechanic would have, and it would end up just being a way to ensure that some melee champions (particularly ones with no dashes or ones who got your free steadfast) would be the only ones with better boots options.
