Why in my opinion, Blitzcrank is a bad support

For many people, Blitzcrank is seen as a support pick. And for the most part, he is. Even though Blitzcrank is a very formidable opponent in top lane, he still is outclassed by many others. And champions such as Teemo will absolutely just poke him out of lane and will blind his biggest damage for laning. So, the only real place to put him is support.

That being said, when you compare Blitzcrank to other supports, you can list a lot of things he lacks.

No shield or buffs to the support. A moderate/lackluster peel with his knock-up, with an unreliable skillshot pull. Only good if you can land hooks.

Blitzcrank is only viable if you land hooks. And only then. If you can't land hooks. If you can't position aggressively to zone for the hook, you can see all the faults of Blitzcrank.

Comparing Blitzcrank to Alistar and you can definitely see a difference in supports.

He was made to be a solo laner. As his hook was more to be as a way to pull the enemy back into you after they burn their dash/flash so you can continue to beat the hell out of them with your massive fist of pain.

The thing is, even with his kit, his solo lane needs to be upgraded a little more. And as far as supports go? No one in pros use him anymore, because at a certain level, Blitzcrank just stops being effective altogether.

So, what needs to be done? I feel like Blitzcrank may need to be reworked at this point. While at support, if you're amazing at laning hooks, you can dominate the lane hard... but even then. If they're good at dodging the hook or just playing around it, such as going all in on the ADC when you get the hook, you can see how blitz gets weaker and weaker as you climb. He needs to be updated to that ether his support game is better for supporting other than 'just landing your hook', or make his solo lane more equipped for battling other solo laners.
