League feels too much about matchups now
Counters and hard counters were always a thing. But in this day and age it is to a point where with wave control, jungler threat and the much faster deaths that occur, plus the danger of losing your tower early and snowballing. Where it feels like laning is just "Oh good they picked..." or "Oh shit they picked..."
This is part of why I switched to jungle, believe it or not I use to main Top, ADC and sometimes mid. Now I almost only play jungle. Because more and more and more, it is becoming pick hard counter, win lane, pick into counter lose lane. But not just a little advantage. A hiding under your third tower with 10CS at 25 minutes advantage(Obvious... partial exaggeration).
Like, I tried to get back into laning. After about 20 games in laning again. I remembered why I stopped laning.
It should never simply be
x into y I am fucked out of farm, towers, deaths and usefulness.
x into z I can fuck them out of all farm, towers, deaths and usefulness.
There should be more of a player element involved, skill, builds, reflex, strategy. At least before in the worst cases you could let them have first tower and safely farm after that. Now they get that nice 400 team gold plus far more map control than ever before.
And I know it isn't just low tiers. Because watching challenger streams I notice them saying "They picked x so there is basically nothing I can do but hope for a gank and try not to die."
Maybe I should switch to blind pick. At least then there is no counterpicking, no autofill and I know every single laner will be Yasuo.
