malzahar's passive is stupid broken and keeps him underpowered for what it gives.

please remove it. and give us a meaningfull passive without breaking the champion. old malz mains never relied on something like that to begin with tbh this passive really grinds my gears with how unhealthy it is for the champion

His Passive definitely takes up a lot of his power budget. They could've just implemented his passive to be active while he ults. Having a voidling summon on an active ability sounds cool, but it kind of takes away the rest of his identity.

people seem to agree.

personally i think it is still too powerful

his old ult did massive damage in the right circumstances it didndt need imunity to CC malz worked without all of this passive cc imunity so why implement something no one wants?

Nilok6 votes

Indeed, the passive ruins the enjoyment of the game for both Malzahar and his opponent. They could have had it only attached to his ult for a split second to prevent it from getting canceled immediately, but should not be his passive.

what I hate more is riot removing so much damage from Q, E and R and putting it all into W, makes his other abilities feel so lackluster

But muh ad mazuhur

Nilok1 votes

Does less damage then it did before the rework.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

was a joke but I didn't know that. I thought it would be more effective.

Nilok1 votes

Ya, they cut the bonus really hard due to having more Voidlings more reliably, but if you played smart pre-rework, you could get up to 3 much more powerful Voidlings for longer.

I see thanks.

As a former D2 Malzahar main I agree.

IMO it'd be better to revert malz and just give a banshee effect when he ultis, boom they accomplish their goal.

But what I'd like to see is a revert but everytime he uses a spell it summons a voiding, a weak version of the old passive yes but having more out is pretty fun albeit weak currently i'm not gonna lie.

Overall I just miss the old malz tbh his fire and forget W was his strongest in-kit ability but now he has no zoning tool so why should I even play my utility malz and he lost his burst for the assassin players.

DiamondLeonis2 votes

I think its weird that it doesn't synergize with his kit... AT ALL. It feels like a "Tacked on" ability and doesn't compliment Malpz

Narasimha2 votes

It's meant to compliment his ult, so that delayed or CC that comes late doesn't knock him out of his channel.

Nilok1 votes

Then it should have only been applied to his ult for a short window, not all the time.

Narasimha1 votes

That would be a lot harder to balance then. Right now the ideal is to keep poking Malz to limit his passive when he needs it. If he got his passive only when he ulted, it would have to have a good base duration to be in line with how limited it is. But then it defeats the purpose of being able to knock him out of his ult.

Nilok1 votes

Not at all, it could have only lasted for a total duration of 1-2 seconds and achieved what it was designed for, prevent Malzahar's ult from instantly being cancelled. Hell, it could have lasted for as little as .5 seconds and still been effective as it would have secured Malz as a dualing champion. 90% of the time my ult was instantly cancelled was from trading a stun with travel time with my ult.

Was literally put there for the sake of selling the champion. It was always just going to get nerfed into the ground, fucking free banshee veil that ignores damage as well for a 1 second window, what? This is a prime example of laziness at its finest. Too lazy to come up with a coherent new kit idea, take the passive, and only rework that, throw it on W, take W, turn it into ult with a supress, throw on a broken passive so they can just nerf him into the ground later and not have to worry about him again

Bisaknosp1 votes

he is still really strong

Ralanr1 votes

At least remove the damage reduction. The passive can work fine without it.

Actually I think the reason why malzahars passive is here it's so it isn't as easy as to shit on him when he ults. So he gave him this passive, but it turns out to give cancer too. I wonder if that would be helpful if they moved it to proc when you ult? It still has the same function and becomes less cancerous.

Witch of Babylon1 votes

Malz was shit at high Elo cause his ult was easy to interrupt. That's why he has it.

agbudar6 votes

not really.

did you have to be carefull when and were to ult? ofc but thats the nature of a surpress its just that strong that it NEEDS that level of counterplay

Matezoide4 votes

No he wasnt. Malz actually had one of the best win-rates at Plat+, next to Heimer.

Plat is not really high elo.

Don't ever think that plat or diamonds are super good.

Masters and challenger players laugh at them and think that they're garbage.

In those elos, Malzahar was bad.

Plat+ = Plat and above.

Malzahar was always great for solo-que. "Oh but at the high elo his opponents will be smarter and stun him!". At higher elo the Malzahar is better at positionib no himself to ult properly. No Malz worth a shit is going to blow his ult just to get stunned half a second later.

The champion.gg stats are technically plat+, but high diamond and above is such a small community that its stats are not necessarily indicative that they are good in such high elos.

Malzahar consistently had a good champ.gg win rate but was considered a poor pick in masters and challenger.

Similarly, despite Rek'sai's mediocre to bad champ.gg win rate she was still a hugely contested pick in the really high elos.

I agree. I want it gutted/replaced so malz can have some of his god damn burst back. I do really like being able to refresh his e though. Makes playing him a bit more fun

agbudar2 votes

yes his E is healthy design it rewards me/you for playing well/right

AdeBug1 votes

just play around it, be safe when it's down, dodge to keep it up for as long as poss

agbudar2 votes

thats not the point.

there is too much power budget in his passive now for little return.

the point is that old malz was never in need of this passive and riot just decided to tag this onto him now every other part of his kit suffers for it.

ReZisT Lust1 votes

Treat malz shield like yasuo shield auto him once before engaging for marriage

agbudar1 votes

yea thats exactly the problem with passives like this.

1 auto is all it takes before you can blow him up.

in the past his deceptive burst with ult was all he needed and that was fine he is a mage after all.

you dont give a tank passive to a mage

ReZisT Lust1 votes

Its not a tank passive a tank passive is gives defense stats i believe a one auto shield which can be proc by an auto is just fine if it was a shield which could heal him with dmg do t to it then maybe it'd be broken but its literally just a shitty banshee veil passive only
