Items are useless on someone who doesn't know how to do anything beyond last hitting minions or champions.

A dude who CS's well but constantly picks bad fights and dies for being out of place throws his lead very quickly.
UtilityPunk1 votesTaking down the enemy's nexus wins the game. Kills and destroyed turrets are the two most direct ways to progress. Because of this, being able to outplay your opponent in lane lets you push and thus take down towers, getting closer to a win. While CS gets you better items faster, those items are wasted if you still cannot outplay your opponent.
If my team mate can kill the enemies in his lane, even if he's 100 CS behind them, I'm not going to complain ;) CS certainly helps you get an edge, but you don't need it if you already have the edge. Your argument is true, but lacks nuance.

Sure CS is great to get fed, but there are some lanes where you're better off giving up your CS in favour of more passive play(take what you can get and just not die in lane). As long as you can still contribute to turret kills and objective control, your CS means nothing.

Side note I am bad and need to work on csing warding positioning trading objectives and pretty much everything else. But hey at least I know what I need to work on.
