I LOVE THE NEW SURRENDER TIME

Get into Ranked game. Make it to Loading Screen. Harddrive starts making noises. Oh shit. That Doesn't sound good. Hard shutdown computer, turn it back on. Computer takes longer than usual to load. Come back. Option to join game. Team hasn't given up on me. Click 'Reconnect' Starts to load game. Directs me back to End Game Lobby. Lost 20 LP.

Fuck my life.

I do love the feature though. Just wanted to share my pain. And vent.

If I alt tab before the load screen initially loads I get big splats. Not looking forward to this happening.

My computer chooses when to let me alt+tab. Sometimes it will let me open League, and sometimes I will have to exit the League client and restart it, or even restart my computer altogether.

If you run it in windowed mode (preferably borderless) that probably won't happen. No guarantees, but it might be worth a shot.

Yeah. It's a great feature, but it is way too short for people who legitimately crashed or DC'd during loading.

Even good computers take longer than 90 seconds to load up from a bluescreen, or reconnect to the internet and reload the game after a DC.

The low-end computers won't even make it back from a normal bugsplat.

Most games with early DCs end up being back to 5v5 by 3-4 minutes, and most are very winnable. /Remake is great, but too harsh.

I agree. I love the concept, and I wanted to vent and share my badluck experience, while also not bashing Riot for trying their best.

90 seconds? I hope you mean to boot up and load the game. My comp can do that in a flat 40 seconds. but that's with my OS and league on an SSD (which any "good" comp should have). Without that, damn, could take years. My old comp is still trying to reconnect from a bugsplat from 2 years ago.....

You should probably look at getting that replaced. If you can swing it, go for an SSD. They're pretty solid now (no pun intended), and you'll notice a solid uptick in overall performance. Also, super quiet.

It's a laptop ;S

If you've got the budget at the moment and you are displeased with your current laptop, go ahead and spring for a new one with an SSD. It's quite a bump upward in price, of course, but I've been incredibly happy with mine for about a year and a half now. Goes from power off to lock screen in about 6 seconds, and I can be logged onto League and in queue in less than a minute.

I will definitely be buying a new computer sometime in the near future.

SSDs are all 2.5" drives, so as long as it's a new enough model to have at minimum a SATAII connection, the SSD would be worthwhile. If it only has SATAII, you could save some money and buy something not quite as fast, since the connection would limit the transfer rates. If it's newer and uses a SATAIII connection, you could go for the higher end drives if you can afford them.

I've got a 4 year old craptop that I use when I travel for work (not league, just browsing and maybe some light steam games). The first SSD I ever bought was still laying around, so I decided to swap that into the laptop. It's only a 64GB drive, but enough for windows and some applications. That laptop boots about as fast as my gaming desktop now. It's also quieter, runs a bit cooler, and helps with battery life because SSDs require very little power to operate.

so? most laptops can upgrade their hdd to an ssd pretty easily.

Arkhan1 votes

Yeah, I'm an idiot with technology most of the time.

It's pretty easy for most laptops. I'd look it up.

Cant wait for this to happen to me when the client inevitably crashes.

Arkhan1 votes

Oh dude. Just wait.

I don't get frustrated often. But I lost 20LP when I only gain 13 if I win. So yeah.

That means you don't belong in your current rank. Your MMR is way too low compare to others at that level.

I know what it means. Thanks for reminding me.
