Regarding the League Servers Being Down...

Arkhan··13 votes·2,197 views

If you aren't aware, there is another 'hacker' group behind the nonsense. I used that term extremely light because they are just a bunch of people with too much time on their hands that can cause Ddos attacks.

But lets not give them the publicity they crave.Giving publicity to a group like this only increases the chances of another group or the same group of doing it again.

Ignore it and wait it over. Riot is good to us. Don't blame them. Be civil, and wait it out.

(Just to note, I didn't name the group for this reason. They will get nothing from me.)

I agree. A lot of hacker groups just want PUBLICITY. THIS IS THE POINT! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

A lot of people are actually in support of this group hacking riot (whether they actually did it or not) to retaliate for the loss of solo queue. Its silly.

The fact that someone would do that....FOR A GAME is just pathetic. Oh how our nation is fucked in the years to come

I agree, it's LoLs infamous hateful community at its finest. I recently got my friend to start playing with me but he always stayed away from it because he's heard so much about the toxicity of many of the community members.

The funniest part is, the retaliation for SOLOQ is ignorant. If you look at the League Community as a whole, there is an EXTREMELY small amount (compared to the rest of the players) that want SoloQ back. It's a small group, but they are a very PASSIONATE and VERBAL group.

I like the new system. And I believe any attack on any server is nothing but a sad publicity stunt. They could be doing a lot more with their abilities and skills. I am an Xbox fanboy, but two Christmas's ago, a group shut down both PSN and XBL, Microsoft got XBL back up and running fast, while Sony struggled with it. I despise Sony, but it's still uncalled for and immature.

You're totally right. I don't even play ranked I only like the rotating queue games like Ascension and hexakill lol so it definitely didn't bother me. I just wish they were permanent games 😭😭

Arkhan2 votes

I enjoy the Rotating Queue. If you had URF everyday, or Ascension everyday, it would get old. I look forward to checking which game mode is coming out next and/or logging on without checking and seeing that it has changed.

Also, I've got to play that Nexus Seige on my PBE account, and ITS AWESOME!

Enfeebler1 votes

Ooo I haven't played that one! I only started in October of last year so I have quite a bit to learn. And ya you're right playing the same thing over and over again gets tiresome quickly. I absolutely hate one for all though!

Arkhan1 votes

I don't particularly like and All For One either to be honest. And (don't stone me) I don't like URF at all. I enjoy Ascension and Hexakill though.

Enfeebler1 votes

Hahaha! URF is fun I'm not super obsessed with it though. I'd choose Ascension, Poro King or Hexakill over it any day. It's just too difficult going back to normal SR after playing URF especially since I don't enjoy SR that much to begin with, which makes me hesitant to play URF at all.

Arkhan2 votes

I completely understand that. And omg. I forgot all about Poro King. I love that game mode. I'm hoping they bring back that Bilgewater map too. I forgot the name of it. Black Market Brawlers?

Enfeebler1 votes

I've seen that name around the boards every now and then. Never seen any gameplay of it. Might have came out before I started playing or something haha.

Arkhan1 votes

Yeah, it was sometime last year I believe. But it was definitely fun. And on a completely different map. It was Howling Abyss type, but set in a BigleWater Pirate Scum type place.

Seriously? God I know they don't DQ that much but isn't that a little childish?

It is highly unlikely they will be able to hack riot again. I am sure after riot fixes the issue, they will make their system more secure. In the meantime, you should make sure that all of your passwords are secure.

Now how do you just "make sure" your passwords are secure? LOL

By making it very complicated? I'm not sure if this comment was relevant.

ya but, my league password is already made? so how can i just make sure it's safe

Arkhan4 votes

Your passwords are safe. Your information is safe. They didn't 'hack' Riot Games, they just flooded the servers with false traffic. Ddos attacks aren't hacking necessarily, they are 'Denial Of Service' attacks.

Arkhan2 votes

Riot has been attacked beforehand by a similar group. It has happened many times, and this will not be the last time it happens. And again, they didn't 'hack' anyone. They just flooded the servers with false traffic. Your passwords are fine.

It is a DDOS, no system security can protect from these.

They didn't "hack" Riot, they ddosd, and it's highly likely that they can again.

DDoS attacks have no affiliation with account information.

does anyone have an estimate on when the servers will be back up?

Arkhan4 votes

Not at this time, probably within the next hour or so. It doesn't usually take them that long to fix the issue.

We as the player have a right to know what is happening, and i hope Riot lets us know asap, unlike Sony when they were hacked. Marins[zombie-brand-facepalm]

Actually, Sony's PSN was shut down for 3-4 months one time, and they waited 2 whole weeks to release a statement.

When a Company gets attacked, there is a lot of legal mumbo-jumbo that they have to abide by, so it can get pretty technical and time consuming.

Very true indeed, but player's should be notified that there was a DDos or whatever in the system, and they are working to resolve this incident as fast as possible. Marins[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I believe it's opinionated. As I stated above, any acknowledgement of the Ddos attack gives credibility to the 'hackers' and more publicity. I believe they have done exactly what was necessary. They posted they were having issues and are working on a fix. We benefit from knowing nothing else.

Too late LOL

Arkhan1 votes

It's not too late. They didn't get anywhere near the publicity they wanted to get. After checking out their twitter, I laugh at the followers and retweets they received. Losers.
