Sightstone is bad, and here is my idea to make it better.

Sightstone, in it's original form, was an item that reduced the load on supports, allowing them to, over time, save money on wards by buying it up front, and using the recharges to help them ward more effectively. In Season 4, supports got a massive boost with the advent of the support items, the trinkets, and the restructuring of ward responsibilities. The one thing that never changed, though, was the Sightstone. For mages, Sightstone is an odd item to have to buy: let's say you were going to buy a bit of utility in the form of Cooldown Reduction for a mage support like Janna; would you rather buy a Kindlegem or a Forbidden Idol? The Forbidden Idol is going to be the item of choice, because the extra health on Janna doesn't make any sense. My point is that champions that don't utilize extra health are forced into getting it with Sightstone, and the stats are out of place. Then, on top of that, when Season 4 changes came out, they shifted the responsibility of vision from solely the support's, to a more team-centric objective. They did this by adding the trinkets, and putting a limit of the number of wards one player could have at a time. This, however, caused a new problem: now other positions had to start dumping more money into wards. This lead me to think of a new alternative: what if Sightstone wasn't just made for supports? What if the Sightstone could be an item that other champions could utilize, and it would actually help them with better stats? Thus, I have made a list of new Sightstones, with new stats, that maybe, just maybe, this idea could get implemented, and help solve the vision issue once and for all.

Not only will this increase in use of Sightstones help teams with warding, it will also increase the value of the other trinkets besides the Warding Totem. With more warding items, there may be less Greater Stealth Totems, and maybe more Oracle's Lenses, or even Farsight Orbs. Maybe.

I stopped reading here where you said health is useless.

Wrong. I never said that it is useless, as you can read in the text you quoted. I said that it doesn't make sense for a champion that could invest money into getting another stat, like Mana Regen, which scales well for her, because a good Janna uses a lot of abilities, and shouldn't be taking a lot of damage, thus for Janna, Mana Regen > Health.

Mana management > regen.

Health = staying alive a little bit longer = potential to turn a team fight.

Sightstone isn't bought for health but rather for the wards - it becomes gold efficient by laying down all of 3 wards, generally you'll lay down upwards of 20 in a single match. There's no need for this item to change.

Yes, it is bought for the wards. Let me present my argument another way. Boots and Wards are two things that, while, yes, are not the best statistical items, are nonetheless necessary. Let's say that there was a point in time when boots were only one upgrading tree, leading to Ninja Tabis. By your argument, boots are bought for the bonus movement speed, not for the other stats. We know, however, that boots are better with more options. That is why they have Ninja Tabi as well as all of the others. That is my argument: that Sightstone is limited to one specific purpose, when it could be so much more.

sightstone is not a bad item at all, and really the reason sightstone gives health is because it is universally useful. It is put on because it never hurts to have a little extra health, and it doesn't add so much that sightstone becomes expensive to the point where it set supports really far behind.

Also if everyone coud build sightstone the vision game would become a nightmare. There would be no point in pink wards or sweepers, because everyone would get and extra 4-5 wards whenever they backed. Bot lane alone could have 10 wards from their sightstones. They could easily keep 3 bushes warded for 9 mins straight and still have an extra. There would be no conceivable way too sweep hat many wards before they simply backed and restocked on wards. Facechecking would never happen as your team could carry around (if everyone had greater stealth totems) a total of 35 wards. Even if only 15 can be placed at a time, they have an extra 20 to replace any lost.

Sweepers can get 1 ward every minute or so and chicken buff gets 1 every 2 mins if you smite it. If the enemy team has a total of 35 wards at almost all times, the map may as well have fog of war removed because of the impossibility that taking vision control would become.

Yes yes.. 1000 suns YES

omg.. if there was like a good expensive item that got everyone to buy it no matter what they were going.. and get WARDS?

but would people get those and place the wards?

ever sense 5.3 and the totem trinket upgrade change... you can upgrade that and it may not give you instant 4 changes like sight stone.. but its still almost as good as you can place 3 wards that last 120 and they keep recharging even if you don't visit shop..
