@Meddler, some questions regarding Jhin

Adc itemization is in a pretty weird spot atm, where lategame crit builds are overshadowed by mid game flat armor pen / cleaver builds, and Jhin is a part of this.

Jhins most popular and highest winrate build includes rushing a ghostade followed by a duskblade. Items clearly designed for ad assassins and not marksmen.

Apart from that, Jhin is also supposed to be a late game hypercarry that brings in very strong crits but weak early being crippled by his reload mechanic in lane and the early game weakness of crit.

Yet the case is nothing like that. Jhins winrate indicates an insanely powerful early game that gradually falls off. Isn't this an issue ? Why isn't something being done ?

I believe lengthening his reload early and shortening it late could help solve this,(2-3s based on level, from 2.5 always) his attack range is also fairly long at 550. 500 or 525 maybe ? And then we can compensate by allowing his ults first 3 shots to be affected by crit chance , since crit Jhin's ult doesn't hit as hard as flat ad/ pen Jhin's does. Maybe we could explore removing his crit damage penalty from his passive and give him a gradually smaller crit penalty on his ultimate passive per level. ( -30/-15/-0 % crit damage based off of his ults level)

Can I get your opinion on him and if you have any plans for him ?

Give him the Nocturne treatment on his ult cut it by 1/3rd and increase it by as much for each rank, so we can do dragon in peace without him shooting us from his tower.

That's pretty bull aye. He can contribute ( by a lot ) without having to leave his lane safety and keep farming.

Hes getting nerfed next patch

I'd rather not see him straight up nerfed, but shift his power from early game to late game. And changes that support his crit builds.

All Meddler said is they are looking at him for 6.17. Was going to be .16, but they want to adress all the current overperforming ADCs at once (Ashe, Sivir, etc), and they won't have r ready for 6.16, so it will hold off till next patch.

He could stand some flat nerfs. 53% Win Rate (#2 ADC), 24% Pick Rate (#2 ADC), and a moderately low average games within player base of ~30. Means he's pretty popular while winning a lot with a moderately low skill floor.

The reason that Jhin builds Duskblade Ghostblade is because he has % missing health damage on his passive. That's a significant amount of base damage that does not scale with AD, AS, or crit. The only thing it scales with is armor penetration. That's why % missing health is primarily an assassin thing. So, there's nothing we can do to make the build worse than crit scaling (Jhin has the most crit binding of any carry, how could you possibly improve it) short of flat out removing the missing health, or significantly decreasing it but making it true damage so it doesn't scale with flat armor pen.

Lucien and Miss Fortune lack missing health % damage and still core Youmuu's -> Duskblade right now. I think the item itself may just be too strong for ranged champions at the moment. And while it's not popular on any other ADCs I can think of, I'll bet that a lot of them could build it and be just as effective.

Hm. I'd say that laning has always been one of Jhin's strengths?

His reload mechanic doesn't necessarily hold him back, but just produces clear "strong" windows (his fourth shot) with clear "weak" windows (while reloading). Even in lane without items, his fourth shot can be deadly and your opponent has to play around how you use it. His W works wonders with pretty much every support, and has long range and goes through minions. It's a stronger lane tool than it is anywhere else, even though it's still great for catching people later in the game. And finally, his E is literally a laning tool. It's free wards, a gank deterrent and produces opportunities to collapse on an enemy in lane with his W and support follow up. His laning phase is one of his strong points. Late game he is still deadly (as all ADCs should be), and the trade-off of mobility for damage is pretty apparent but with a good team his long range can be used to clean stuff up.

I do agree with you about the builds, though. Infinity Edge in to Firecannon or Shyv feels like what I should be building first but the Youmuu's/Duskblade is just simply more powerful. One thing I will say about Youmuu's, though, is that I rather love the active to make up for the lack of mobility you have early game as your passive doesn't give you much to work with after a crit at that time. I think there's a problem with Duskblade they may have to address that's made it so popular on ADCs as a first BF item. Although super late I've found myself selling it for Essence Reaver to have more crit rate and max CDR.

Jhin doesn't really fall off at all. In fact, he needs nerfs more than anything right now.

i think most of jhin's early power stems from his ability to push the lane pretty hard

You attack the minions who arent target by yours then then use the q to clear like 4 minions at once and you can keep doing this pushing someone in and gaining a small xp lead which then keeps you safe as long as you dont push too hard when you don't know where the jungler is or dont have wards. His early pushing power is probably the biggest issue because hsi damage isnt that high in the early game

I also think alot of people are too scared of his earlygame 4th shot and back off

he is arguably at his weakest then because of the reload so thats where you ideally want to go in on him as he tries to poke you with it because after he has 2.5 second of not being able to attack at all if you follow that up with an exhaust you can disable him for like 5 seconds
