Yasuo Q3 is a ranged ability. It should proc grasp as a ranged ability

Hyrum Graff··5 votes·823 views

I actually don't think it should proc grasp at all, but since I know Riot thinks of his Q as an aa, please consider his Q3 a ranged ability.

Yasuo is excellent at all ins. This is fine. But a champion who excels at all ins should struggle vs harass, and right now between his shield, wind wall, and grasp he can block or ignore most champions' harass.

All this would still be OK if yasuo were designed to be a lane bully who falls off late -- then you have the option of just trying to survive the laning phase and prevent him from roaming while you outscale. But Yasuo isn't a lane bully, he's a mid-late game carry who spikes really hard at 2-3 items.

This isn't okay.

Playing katarina, facing a yasuo, and knowing your only option if you want enough farm to be relevant is to build a first item Randuins, is not how League is supposed to work.

I don't believe yasuo needs a nerf currently.

Then buff him elsewhere in a place that's less frustrating. No other champion is so frustrating to play against.

Riven? But yeah i could get behind that.

yasuo is frustrating late game ill give ya that but laning phase?? he has to be one of the easiest champs to beat in laning phase. ive played against yasuo many times with many different champions and ive even bought and used yasuo. he just has too many bad matchups.

Mage wise I agree... is quite easy to beat. Assasins is another story. Since most assasins are melee as yasuo, yasuo tends to be able to outharrass them simply because he has a bit more range with his Q, also most assasins have high to moderate CD on their mobility so they can't just spam it like yasuo does so yasuo can initiate a fight, mitigate the damage with his shield and force the enemy assasin to use it mobility, then reengage again with little to no resistance this time since the assasin will still have his kit in CD

Yasuo is classified as a fighter, so it kinda makes sense he can take out assassins

It kinda doesn't make sense that he also outscales the fuck out of them, though.

Spicy Rice1 votes

You sure about that? As far as I know, most (if not all) assassins get outscaled by fighters.

Try playing kat. Make sure you have no deadly weapons nearby, so you're not tempted to use them on either your computer or yourself.

Oh my, a champion counters a different champion, the horror.

There's a difference between a soft counter and a hard counter. That difference is why soft counters are OK (and even good for the game) and hard counters are not.

Spicy Rice1 votes

Except it is inevitable, especially with as many champions as league has. Hard counters also help keep certain champions in check.

Imagine if champions like kat, were able to get kills as long as they were simply better than their opponents. It'd mean that the game would be dominated by said champions, as they would scale too hard, too easily.

Why is he being downvoted? on yasuo's ranged Q grasp should be treated as a ranged proc.

Because there was enough irrational QQ about yasuo and CT when he was released that people are sick of yasuo QQ and think that anyone complaining about yasuo must be complaining irrationally because they're some baddie who got stomped by a yasuo. It's a pattern matching thing. You see a pattern enough (people complaining about yasuo are irrational and wrong) and then when you see someone complaining about yasuo, you assume they're irrational and wrong without taking the time to actually evaluate their argument.

SJWs use this, which is why you can't argue with them without being perceived as a bigot. Trump uses it, which is why insults and facts just bounce off him. It's a generally shitty tactic, but it works, which is fucking terrifying.

Anyway, the point is that while I did just lost a game where I laned against a yasuo, I didn't get stomped in laning. I was ~20 cd behind and 1 kill up coming out of laning. That didn't make laning any less goddamn frustrating.

People also generally don't understand the difference between power and frustration, so when a frustrating champion is at a reasonable power level and gets nerfs + compensation buffs, they complain about the compensation buffs, no matter how warranted. Or if they don't often lane against the champion, they think that the nerfs aren't needed because they don't have to experience the agony and all they see is that the champion is balanced.

Katarina loses to literally everything in lane, it's why no one plays her

Also he can only proc Grasp if his Q3 doesn't hit any minions, as on hit effects are only applied to the first target hit

So unless he's consistently landing tornados on you without hitting any minions he isn't getting much in the way of sustain off it

Didn't realize that, thank you for the info.

His pattern was: dash through my minion wave, chuck his q3, dash back. So when he did manage to hit his q3, which honestly wasn't that often, it was not through minions. But it did hurt WAY harder than it felt like it should, and it was immensely frustrating to see him get that heal.
