Solo Queue Ranked isn't meant to be climbable

darkdill··4 votes·1,420 views

Why? Because 95% of players in ranked are toxic to the point of needing to be shot in the kneecaps, myself included.

You're required to go into 5-man premades or not play ranked at all. Simple as that. Toxicity ruins games.

You could be a Master-level player and still end up in Silver because players spend more time attacking their TEAMMATES in ranked than actually playing the damn game. It doesn't matter how good you are; the game's a team game, and if your team is trying to kill itself, you automatically lose.

Riot, solo queue ranked is a mistake. Remove it.

No "Master-level" player gets stuck in silver. If you get stuck in an elo, you belong in that elo. I was Platinum last season, placed in Silver 1 this season and it took me like 8 games to get out.

You went from Silver to platinum. I would argue that Silver 1 players are at least competent in their roles. There is no massive discrepancy in skill level as there is in Bronze. Now try climbing out of Bronze 5 in the same manner. Show me the stats to prove it or I don't believe you.

If you are in bronze 5, there is a reason. And that reason is you. You put yourself in that elo.

No I would argue that your team has more to do with your losses and wins in bronze than in higher tiers. Think about it. A bunch of silver guys are more evenly matched than a bunch of bronze guys. Why? Because as you go up the tiers the mismatch between skill levels is smaller as people at least understand and can perform the basic functions the game requires to succeed. If someone on your team is completely noob and trying a champ for the first time in ranked then he is most likely a bronze 5 and not a silver 1. And even a silver 1 on a new champ will outperform a bronze 5 on a new champ every time. Therefore the impact he will have on the game is far more severe than a silver 1 having a bad day. You can't even compare it. Like I said show me the stats or you can spout as much bravado and bullshit as you want and I won't believe a word of it.

I would be far more impressed if you showed me proof of rising out of bronze so quickly than rising from silver to platinum where individual skill can actually have a level playing field to prosper from.

And this is why you can't climb up. This attitude of yours. "It's my team." "You guys got it easy". Change your attitude then it will change your elo.

Always cracks me up when I hear people ignore the fact that it is a team game therefore teams directly affect your progress. Classic.

I don't understand why you would think I couldn't make it out of Bronze V. I've played in lower elos and I have completely destroyed those players. To me, Silver and Bronze are pretty much the same as far as player skill goes. Climbing in this game isn't luck based, if you're good enough, you'll get out. Instead of acting like your teammates are the reason you lose, try to learn what you're doing wrong, improve and learn how to carry those players.

I'm sure you could rise out. That's not what I'm arguing. I'm saying how efficient is the current system to place you where you belong? I'd say its horribly inefficient.

I would argue under the system I propose you would get to where you belong far faster than under the current system. I'm not arguing whether it's possible to rise or not. I'm saying the current system is very inefficient especially at the lowest tiers. This is just a cause of needless frustration. Read the link I posted you will see what I mean.

Your ignoring the fact that your arguing against yourself. Your either really really good and can consistantly carry teams, or your just really bad? People who pretend there is no middle area are idiots.

shalec1 votes

If you don't belong in a given elo and you deserve to climb out, then there really is no between. You should be able to climb out no matter what teams you're faced with. Sorry to say this, but if you're stuck in an elo, you belong there.

Ignorance.

shalec1 votes

Yeah, I'm the ignorant one. You must think you're in elo hell and deserve to be higher.

I started Bronze V last season and climbed to Gold V... it took over 400 games but, it's very possible.

Jevokan1 votes

I know its possible. I just rose to bronze 3 the other day. I'm saying if I could rise to bronze 3 in like 10 games I probably belong in bronze 3 and not bronze 5. Yet this system is so inefficient that it will take me longer to regain where I was and advance because of how broken the system is. Don't paint everyone with the same brush. If you did good but still lost then you should lose less LP. If you really sucked and probably were the reason your team lost as evident in your stats then you should lose more LP. Simple as that.

Sukishoo2 votes

Hmm there's really not much difference in the divisions of any ranking, so saying that you belong in Bronze III over Bronze V doesn't really mean much. They just spread out these areas so that people don't just jump up the ladder like they used too. Back in the early seasons, you could go from Bronze to Gold in a day because there were no divisions to climb through (only the major Tiers).

LP gains and LP loses have nothing to do with your performance though. They are controlled by your overall hidden MMR, which is just based upon those games where you win/lose against players of higher or lower levels. The KDA and interaction, could be added to their generation of that but then you'd get some really messed up stats sometimes where someone goes like "18/0/10" in one match then "2/20/1" the next match. So that'd really wouldn't help the issue any better.

Jevokan1 votes

Actually if you check lolnexus once the game starts you will see big differences in the level of players that are allowed to be in that match. In bronze 3 you will sometimes get silver players and bronze 1 players. In bronze 5 you rarely ever get anything higher than a bronze 4 on your team. So I figure once I get to Silver it should be much much easier to advance since the players will have at least some experience and basic competency in every role.

Sukishoo1 votes

Yes, you can see the divisions vary throughout the match, but that doesn't mean there's really that big of a difference in them.

Actually when I was Bronze 5 I'd see Bronze III all the time, which is again because of the MMR, mine being higher so it pulled in slightly higher players. But overall the divisions aren't really that big in difference.

From the Tiers even, Bronze to Silver have very little skill difference and it is honestly not much easier to climb once there. It can be for some people yeah, but not for everyone.

That also doesn't make any sense to begin with because to go up 5 tiers would be at least 5 games to reach promos, then best 2 out of 3. YOu're talking at least 7 games per tier x 5. That's at least 35 games if you win every single one. You are full of it.

shalec1 votes

Wait, what? I said I was placed in Silver 1, not Silver 5.

A new system needs to be made. Check out the thread I made.

Not really. I think if you have patience, a good attitude, and are able to play multiple roles effectively, you can climb.

I'm plat IV, started as Bronze V in S3. I'm not having that much trouble climbing still, so I don't think matchmaking is as broken as people claim.

Because it isn't broken. People uses this excuse because they can't climb up, and prefers blaming their "trolling teams" instead of becoming better.

DrNova1 votes

at the bottom its "broken", for lack of a better word. There are good players who belong more in the middle. Not highly skilled and able to single handedly carry a really bad team, but not really bad and deserving to be stuck down with the truly bad players.

Stop acting like there isnt a middle ground in skill.
