Is there any way we can NOT have Soraka forced into a tanky build?
Healers are not supposed to be tanks. They are supposed to be squishy, while providing good utility in the form of heals and other cc. Soraka, as a healer who builds pretty much full tank, has insane survivability. This makes it almost impossible to focus her, provided her positioning isn't shit. Her building tanky all but negates what the primary weakness of a healer should be: squishiness. As it is, she simply builds Warmogs+RoA and pumps out decently sized heals while being immune to the counterplay that is a facet of every other AP support's existence.
I wouldn't say she's overpowered, but her design is fundamentally flawed. IMO her heal should not cost max HP; this is what forces her to build tanky. It should have a higher AP ratio, but a longer cooldown and a higher mana cost. Or you could put it on a charge system similar to Taric's Q (which is a well-designed heal ability), and have it increase in power the more Qs she lands within a set time. Just do something to drive her away from that toxic af tanky build that no one even likes.
