I would happily say goodbye to Frozen Mallet if it meant people would stop calling for my mains head

(Preface: I'm not trying to start an "I'm right, you're wrong" kind of thing. I'm very rarely right about anything League related, so if you think I'm wrong about this please tell me, all I ask for is civility.)

So I've mained Gnar since I basically started playing this game 1.5 years ago. Lately he has been garnering quite a lot of attention due to meta slaves noticing his synergy with mallet and picking him up much to my chagrin, and because of that he gets more attention from all of the people on boards who want to pick apart the FOTM champions. Obviously it annoys me so here we are, which brings me to my main point, which is in the title. I would gladly take the removal of frozen mallet if it meant people would just get off the hate train.

Now full disclosure, I almost never build this item on Gnar, I think it's a waste if you can hit your boomerangs and proc Hyper properly. In fact I also never build this item because I think it's cancerous to the game. Does that make me a bad Gnar player? Maybe. Do I care? Nah. To put it into perspective as far as I know, the only three champions that have it as a core item to freely abuse the passive are Gnar, Tank Yasuo, and Tank Teemo. (I could very easily be wrong about that). For everyone else, there's simply better options out there. I don't think this item is very healthy for the game and since no one builds it except for Gnar and these random tank builds that give people aneurysms, it's my belief that it either needs a rework or a removal.

Now some of you probably think Gnar is no skill freelo, and to you I would say that Gnar currently has a 47.73% win rate and an 11.84% play rate in the top lane. (Taken from champion.gg). He's currently the second most played top laner in the game (thanks LCS) and his win rate is low as a result. Now I personally think that Gnar is actually pretty easy to balance due to the fact that his iconic transformation cannot be controlled so it's basically just a matter of making sure his numbers aren't crazy.

"But trash Gnar main, how do I counter him?"

Gnar has one of the weakest early games and arguably the weakest level 1 in the game maybe next to Akali. If you can abuse that and force him to miss his boomerang you can make his life miserable. As to specific champions that counter him, high damage carry top laners that snowball tend to do the job. Your Riven's, Wukong's, Irelia's, etc.

Anyway I've strayed far from the original point of this post, but basically, I think mallet should be removed so people stop bitching without perspective and I can play my main in peace. Thank you for reading.

AD Mordekaiser abuses the Mallet!

But really though. Very niche item, I've heard people call for it to be made melee only, which would put it in an Ohmwrecker-like state. It's fine being actually useful on some champions.

It is if you suck! Did a video on it on my YouTube channel, check it out if you'd like.

(YouTube channel is the same as my LoL name)

Same here man. I still think the nerf is bull because I doubt they will revert it after anything they do with the Frozen Mallet. His win rate is still one of the worst in the game because of his early game & now its gonna be really gutted.... so this really isn't all fair.

This is gonna make him too reliant on his jungle or team which well.. is not something I like because of this busted match making system.

Really? I've never heard any vitriol about Gnar...

Mallet Gnar is just so broken against champions like Tryndamere and other melee carries that rely on sticking.
