Riot now it would be the best time to rework On-Hit items...

You basically deleted one decent Defensive On-Hit item item 3091 that champions like... Varus KogMaw (not saying they bought this item all the time but it was there when they needed it) could use when facing a lot of AP based enemies.

###Now if you want to play an On-Hit Playstyle on the champs above you literally only have 3 items right now to choose from (Crit Users can make use of 6 Crit items, double the amount that On-Hit users have to choose from)...

item 3153 item 3124 item 3115

(I don't even count item 3085 Runaan's Hurricane anymore because it has stats of a Crit Orientated Item, but it's only purchased to apply X Current On-Hit damage to multiple units).

  • item 3153 Is the only decent On-Hit item that exists.
  • item 3124 Rageblade needs a rework and that's something everyone agrees on (Phantom-Hit Effect is and will be a problem).

  • item 3115 Useless on it's own or alongside other On-Hit items because it scales with a stat that neither of the champions below will buy.

  • item 3085 Runaan's Hurricane gives you Crit Stats when all you are basically building is On-Hit damage (that doesn't Crit), and it's own On-Hit 3 Unit damage scales with 40% of your AD.

  • item 3124 Rework it to give you AS Cap removal at 6 stacks instead of Phantom On-Hit.

  • item 3115 Rework it or add an alternative item that would support more of the AS/AD side.

  • item 3085 Rework or Add an alternative similar item to it (similar to how you have several Tiamat Options).

##If not rework any of the above items, can we atleast get more options. None of these On-Hit items even synergize well together.

The removal of Phantom Hits would be a great day for League of Legends.

wits end wasnt removed for on hit champions. the hell are you talking about?

they just replaced the mr shred with sustain. so it acts like some sort of lifesteal item for them now.

OP said onhit items have no synergy with each other, so everything he says is just irrelevant, because its pretty clear he has no clue what he is talking about. He's just talking out of his ass. Just another delusional andy. Move on.

Sire Hippington8 votes

nah, he's not wrong about that. BotrK gives lifesteal that other on-hit doesn't use, Hurricane gives crit that doesn't work for on-hit, Nashor's gets most of it's value from the AP scaleing while the rest of the on-hit items don't give ap BotrK and Hurricane are physical, the rest magical so the old mr shred, which actually was a strong effect on Wit's, was not that great either.

The only thing that ties it all together is the overloaded abomination known as Rageblade, and somewhat Hurricane cause even with undesierable stats on it, hitting 2 additional targets for full on-hit damage is quite massive. But the rest just has little synergie and you just stack them up so they all can get boosted by rageblade

To be fair, it is more of a sign that there simply aren't enough On-hit items in the game. I bet if we introduced more viable On-hit items, item 3124 would not be needed anymore.

The amount of times I suggested this idea, sadly it most likley won't ever get considered by Riot since it seems that they are pretty attached to it and don't want to get rid of it.

I REALLY wish we could get more options, I would give up Rageblade if this happened. But as someone else stated Riot doesn't seem to like the On-Hit stat, and thus they are slowly killing it off.

Atleast the MR shred gave extra MR, all you have now is healing equal to flat value of 26.4 at max level. Tell me what's better 30 extra stolen MR for yourself or this joke of a "sustain" you talk about?

Anu3isII1 votes

Depends on the champion and the match-up. They tried to make it more of a general item at the cost of removing power from its core users (which were very few to begin with).

Overall, I doubt they finished working on it, since it seems on the weak side and pbe isn't the best place to test/balance items. Give it time and they will work on it again.

Yordle Xayah4 votes

Yeah, cause they really know how to do that. Everything went so well when they reworked Crit items... and Mages items... and Tank items...

Great idea! What could possibly go wrong? [sg-ahri-2]

Phantom hit is fine. I don't care if I get downvoted but, when you are saying that onhit items don't have any synergy with each other, it shows that you have 0 idea of how onhit items work. Pls don't talk about this topic again :)

it breaks what it is not intended for, breaks what it is intended for as well, has one of the best scalings in the game (which is a deficit currently due to late game arriving early) and even as "one of the best" scalings, a crit build does not give up much to match or surpass it

currently the champions that use it best have an on-hit already in their kit so they can double their gains

take kog-maw, first he's doing 4% max health in magic damage, then he's doing 8%

master yi is a monster with it and with just rageblade, he can do hundreds of true damage per second

vayne gets her infamous 2-hit % max health true damage

it's currently the most broken thing in the game. Not the ONLY one of course, but when champions like master yi and vayne can do MOST of your health in true damage...there's a problem

Uhm excuse me? item 3115 USELSS????

There are tons of champions really liking the stats of this items? Teemo Kayle Diana Lulu Kaisa Veigar Neeko Azir

And have you ever looked at KogMaw Varus scalings?

While it's not the worst option it's simply not worth to buy it if you don't have any additional AP. The cooldown reduction is nice, but the AP this item offers doesn't really increase the AP Damage of Kog and Varus just by itself.

You'd need atleast deathcap along with it if you wanted for this to work.

Sure bud...take a look at this.

https://u.gg/lol/champions/azir/build/ Nashor's is the first item here.

https://u.gg/lol/champions/teemo/build/ Nashor's as second item, after Liandry's which doesn't give an overwhelming amount of AP (75).

https://u.gg/lol/champions/kayle/build/ Nashor's first item here as well...

To sum it up, it's not an useless item, it just isn't used by those who first come to mind when you think "on hit". In my eyes, an on hit item is one that builds from item 1043 : item 3153 item 1419 item 3091 item 3124 .

I believe there aren't more on hit items cause it would break its users because rageblade would just double all the on hit damage every other auto. Instead, on hit users build other items that synergise well with their champion, not the class: MasterYi item 3812 item 3161 , Varus item 3085 item 3031 etc.

Both Teemo and Azir are build with AP as their primary damage stat, so yes Nashor's will be a useful option to them. For someone like Varus (who is more Physical Damage focused since only his W and R scale with AP) it wouldn't work not as first item anyway as you're implying on other champions who scale better with AP early, it might just work potentially on Kog'Maw who has a few AP Scallings though.

Not all On-Hit champions are Magic Damage Based champions... There are...

  • Hybrids (Who deal both Physical and Magical, Varus)
  • Magic Damage Dealers (Kog'Maw, Azir)
  • Physical (Kalista)

Bloodrazor I wouldn't count considering it's only a restricted Jungle Item.

If the issue of not adding extra options because of Rageblade, then remove it or remove the Phantom On-Hit effect to stop making that item the centre of On-Hit damage balance.

Rathar Dashing1 votes

On Varus a Nashor's Tooth alone increases his on-hit damage by 47, before counting any previous AP. It also gives him 50% attack speed, 20% CDR for his Q, E and R, and gives an extra 1.6% max health per stack of W. It also gives +80 damage to his R. If he already had Rageblade, then this increases his on-hit damage by 51.

On Kog, it gives +40 damage to his Q and E, +20-40 damage on his R, and gives him 20% CDR which changes the down-time for his W from 9 seconds to 5.6 seconds. It also makes him deal an extra 0.8% max health per auto attack during W.

The sad thing is riot could of made wit end to work with the rest of the on hit items like make the healing all the time and make it heal any on hit damage and that would makes all the items work better together.

Frosted Tips8 votes

My one problem with that idea is the same problem I have with Phantom Hits. If you make all the on-hit items work together in a fashion where they become stronger in more than 1 way together then you force items to be balanced while in conjunction with other items. That makes the individual item feel weak , but then they items combined very strong. I think that would lead to the same issues we see currently because of Phantom Hits.

yi will be so bad without phantom hit. While other champions can still do something like the team, for instance malphite can knock up 5 enemies, Yi won't be able to do anything cause the only thing he does is damage and crit items are not that good on him

Rathar Dashing1 votes

If they reworked on-hit effects, they would most likely take a look at Yi since his passive is basically just a mini-guinsoo's. He'd probably get a better E or passive, or be given some other way to contribute to a fight.

Yi has a Passive that is almost the same as rageblade due to it being a similar mechanic, he shouldn't be allowed to double his Passive with an item.

Love how no one was building that item but now that it got reworked people are all like they loved the item.

VoraciousX1 votes

Phantom hit isn't a problem. Guinsoo's was barely used until it was reworked EXCEPT by on-hit users. Riot is removing on-hits because they don't like how they work, except now, onhit users barely have time to proc their on-hits unless they have HP shred or true damage.

BORK lost attack speed, Wit's End is losing MR shred(which was better than terrible sustain, this is literally just a Yi buff for the item), Runaan's lost a shit ton of attack speed. They've been killing off on-hit synergy forever and only allow it if you're Vayne, Kogmaw, Kayle, Varus, Kai'Sa, or Yi. Off-meta on-hit users have been all but destroyed especially.

Quote a lot of truth in your words.

Rathar Dashing1 votes

Rageblade should increase the damage of your on-hit effects, either by direct amplification or by giving more MR pen. The change could either be "Your on-hit effects deal 10% more damage per stack of Rageblade" or the penetration stats could change from 6-15% to 5+2.5% per stack, or there could be a similar bonus granted only at full stacks. This way, champions like Vayne, Jax, Kai'Sa, Master Yi (and to a lesser extent Varus and some others) can't stack/pop their powerful passive effects too quickly, while still amplifying the damage of an on-hit build. Unfortunately this would mean saying goodbye to my rageblade Vi, but I can cope with that.

VoraciousX1 votes

They just need to revert Guinsoo's and Wit's End and Runaan's. That's all I want. Just let me play my off meta on-hits again. Guinsoo's was fine just giving AP, attack speed, and AD. They can even keep the melee stacking twice as fast. That's really all the item needs to be relevant to Yi. On top of that, imagine how fun Runaan's would be with Lethal Tempo and Hail of Blades having it's 70% attack speed again. Screw crit, I want my on-hits back.
