Scapegoat's Mask

  • Recipe: Aether Wisp + Kindlegem + 700 Gold = 2400 Gold
  • 40 Ability Power
  • 300 Health
  • 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • 6% Movement Speed
  • UNIQUE Active: Creates a clone of a target allied champion that lasts 6 seconds (90 seconds cooldown). You can control the clone's movement with this item, but it deals no damage.

A support item to confuse the enemies and protect your Marksman ^^

I don't know why this name seems so clever to me. But it does. Also, it seems like the perfect opportunity to upgrade Haunting Guise (a mask!) into a support item.

We put a lot of pressure on supports already to execute properly with active items and this takes that mechanical requirement to an even higher level. That would be my primary concern, but it's a cool idea besides. :)

Thryale4 votes

Have you thought about an item that gave champs strategic stealth? Something like:

Unique active: champ becomes stealthed for 3-5 seconds. Stealth breaks upon attacking. 90 second cd. (possibly give a movespd buff if necessary)

as far as cloning is concerned, I think it'd be a great idea. Most low elo supports just build pure mage anyway, so feel that a magy item with great utility such as this would be a great way for those players to still do dmg while also providing more utility to his team.

Illâoi Evê Siôn4 votes

Yeah, but the Malphites ...

Thryale3 votes

That would be soooo epic

Mace of Spades3 votes

Poor Twitch .... First Kalista gets a better version of his e, (Infinite stacks), now you want to destroy his q with an item?

As for it actually happening anyway, that stealth thing that twitch has used to last 60 seconds. Huge nerfs...

NewspaperNarwhal3 votes

But the Attspeed duration grew the longer you were in stealth, so for full potency you had to be stealthed for almost a minute...i did like being a ward and just sitting on an ADC and stalking them before i killed them

RiotRiot Sotere23 votes

Yah!, as is the case for a lot of ideas, we've played around with this one internally quite a bit. During the preseason we toyed around with a support item that would grant stealth to an ally. There are more than a handful of complicating factors. The thing we learned right away is that people love to use it to run away/escape.

darkdill5 votes

I once spoke with Xypherous once a long time ago about the idea of a support Champion who could stealth teammates for a brief time (complete with a Rengar-styled "!" to let enemies know someone is stealthed nearby). He said that it was never going to happen because stealth-on-ally destroys counterplay against heavy initiators like Malphite, Amumu, Hecarim, etc.

But if Riot's opinion on this is changing, then by all means, I'd love to see a way to stealth a teammate.

Electro5223 votes

Well, with the most recent champs, they are going against previous stated philosophies. So, I wouldn't be surprised.

That being said, they ought to make this champ to where it isn't too much like Zilean (as he currently stands)

darkdill3 votes

I still doubt they'll do stealth-on-ally. The mechanic is really un-fun to play against when your enemies are cloaking a power initiator and you can't see them initiate until it's too late.

Electro5221 votes

Ahem.......Rengar

Even though he is not meant to be an initiator, he can still do it.

But, I get your point. They could make it to where any auto attack or cast ability deactivates the cloak. Almost every champion that can initiate uses an ability to do so. This would allow them to get into position, but only that.

darkdill2 votes

Even then, opponents generally use spacing against power initiators in order to counterplay them. If they're cloaked, however, you can't zone against them, and thus the counterplay disappears.

SecretAgentHulk2 votes

There was a great thread recently, where somebody posited that Riot isn't going against previous stated no-nos so much as figuring out why they said they wouldn't do a thing, then figuring out how to make it work while keeping the "why" intact (e.g. Rek'Sai has global teleport because they figured out that adding the scream gave warning/counterplay options).

This would be a neat idea for a Zilean rework ability. Stealth is explained because you're teleported into the future.

Yodasodabob2 votes

You could make it so that it would only stealth if no opponent could see you (not neccessarily including wards), thereby mitigating the ability to use it to escape

Thryale2 votes

what if it was just a selfish stealth instead? Also, defensive stats would be a no go on it as well.

DeusVult3 votes

Why not condition the stealth like the bonus MS on Voli's Q. So the person only gets it if they are moving towards a visible enemy champ

that said, i fear an amumu coming out of stealth in the middle of my team

Amumu I just wanted a hug

Thanks for the comment ^^
But aren't Haunting Guise's build path and cost (etc.) too impractical for Supports?

RiotRiot Sotere16 votes

Depends! As a mage support (Annie, Zyra) I can definitely see the appeal of a Haunting Guise. Paired with early Sorcerer Boots, you have a ton of flat penetration and therefore damage against squishies. You don't normally want to then complete the Liandry's, is what I've found.

lets not further cement Zyra as support. Still saltty u pissed on APmid players by gutting her just to force the support role on her

-you- As if this guy specifically is what caused all that. Be nice.

Sukishoo2 votes

To me that's a waste of a slot if you DON'T to finish it.

TaylorGaylor3 votes

That's because Liandrys is a garbage item on almost every single champion that deals magic damage because it costs a fortune, the mpen is the same as the haunting guises' and the burn effect is crap because it doesn't stack. Really, the only reason you would upgrade would be to get the extra hp. The extra 200 hp. :o oh my so much hp NAWT

Serpens5 votes

It works surprisingly well with DoT users though. See: Malzahar, Brand, Vel'Koz, Zyra, etc

Dear RIOT SOTERE.

Has there been any talk of an utility support armor item?Squishy supports really need it. :/

RiotRiot Sotere4 votes

Not that I've heard of lately. A Glacial Shroud upgrade that makes sense for supports sounds tasty, though.

Might i add that both this item and the item op posted originally, i am going to build them on tanks both in toplane and jungle.

It would have to have a very obvious damage amp on the clone otherwise you will end up in situations with 1, maybe as many as 3, of these on a single team pretending to get caught out and eating up enemy CDs/ults in an area that was intentionally de-warded to bait and just one side stomp the enemy team. I would love to see this item, though.

one for all Shaco all using this item. so many Shacos

hmm how about:

item 3136 + item 3114 + 450g = 2533g

40 Ability Power 300 Health 100% Base Mana regen 10% Cooldown Reduction

Unique Passive – Eyes of Pain: +15 magic penetration

Unique Active: You switch position with target allied champion and take on their appearance for 5 seconds.

Just a tip, dont ever not make an item because you think it might too much pressure on someone. Thats basically playing Support in a nutshell. High as heck mechanical requirements and clutch.

Venowolf1 votes

Riot Sotere what about something like this?

Scapegoat's Mask

Recipe: item 3113 Aether Wisp + item 3136 Haunting Guise + 265 Gold = 2600 Gold

60 Ability Power 200 Health 6% Movement Speed

UNIQUE PASSIVE – EYES OF PAIN: +15 magic penetration

Please, please give me your thoughts

Poptart Evelynn5 votes

What if a team stacks it? I mean that would be pretty funny but gl trying to use ults on the right adc when their is 4 fakes :D

JevelFaithful1 votes

That would be pretty amazing. But I have to agree it should probably prevent the same character form being cloned multiple times.

But houray for more active!

Big Bang Bob2 votes

Yeah, but what about cloning yourself.

10 v 5 ftw :D

BetaDude405 votes

How would you control the other clone if you were Leblanc, Mordekaiser, or Shaco?

(not saying I play Leblanc, Morde or Shaco support cough cough)

Illâoi Evê Siôn8 votes

With the item ^^ You control clones with alt + click (I think?) and you would control the clone with the number the item is on as if you were right clicking somewhere with your mouse.

BetaDude406 votes

Ah, that seems to make more sense. It would be very difficult for me to coordinate that at first though.

Hypothetical Future Me: Alright, Shaco support, as usual. Hypothetical ADC: OMG HELP I AM DYING~~~ SHACO uses SCAPEGOAT'S MASK! Hypothetical Future Me: Alright, that got the ADC, now I gotta get out of here SHACO uses HALLUCINATE Hypothetical Future Me: Okay, now I just have to get myself out of the way so that I can use my clone and the clone of the ADC to deceive them, so I will right click here behind the turret, and alt-right click into them along with pressing 1 to move the ADC clone into- Sends Shaco Clone along with Fake ADC. Real ADC and Real Shaco walk into enemy bot lane YOU HAVE BEEN SLAIN Hypothetical Future Me: ...Welp. Fuck it. ENEMY DOUBLE KILL! Hypothetical Future Me: Wait, what? [insert ADC here], how did you die!?!? Hypothetical ADC: I though I was the guy running away from the turret...

In all seriousness, I would LOVE this item to be put on a support working with someone like Twitch. Twitch goes invisible, and you make a clone out of him. Clone gets killed and you and Twitch can just be the cleanup crew. I'd buy it

Mace of Spades3 votes

You play shaco support? 0.0

BetaDude403 votes

Once a fortnight, yeah. His E is just so oppressive, and should they dive you, you have your boxes and ult. And you can make a very quick getaway or walk off to place a ward with Shaco's Q.

Kinda underrated and underused support, but I'm still not very good as him >_>

Blue Collar Bear2 votes

I like the item, because it provides tankiness, utility, and not a lot of power. It would be purely a defensive item with a lot of chance involved.

However, I think the clone should take more damage or start with less health.

JevelFaithful1 votes

Kinda like clones already in the game? I like that.

Mace of Spades1 votes

Clones already existing are so easy to find out even with the increased damage taken... Especially since shaco and wukong are junglers, they get the buffs that aren't cloned along with them, and LB usually gets blue buff...

Erockandroll2 votes

I honestly can't really see this working. Mostly because a lot of champs can't really be balanced around this Item.

TheKingDodo6 votes

Shaco how would you know which one is the clone that's doing damage?

The one holding the buff's i suppose.

llamasx2 votes

You might want to clarify on how the clone appears. Is is like LB passive? where said champ disappears temporarily? Or would it require a bush juke to make it not obvious?

I do like the idea very much though.
