1000 Hours of Gameplay... Still Silver.

Hi! I'd like to start off by saying I joined League of Legends right after Taliyah's release. I've played league for over 1500 hours, and have mained diana since August (500k Mastery Points over several accounts), And the Highest I've ever gotten is Silver V.

At first, I thought it was my main being underpowered (thus my excitement for the diana buffs). Turns out I was wrong. They buffed diana, but nothing happened. I'm still either getting shit on in lane, or Winning lane but not being able to carry late game. I still play like a first time diana, I feel like the hours I've put into learning this champion haven't payed off 1 bit.

I've thought about changing mains a lot. My initial idea was Fiora, but she got nerfed. So I'm tossing up between Draven MissFortune Riven Quinn . I was hoping changing my main could improve my ranked play, since I have my Gameplay and Game knowledge already improved. My idea is changing into a main that scales well, because bronze games tend to last forever.

what should I do?

Switching mains doesn't matter because if you don't know the fundamentals and how to win you're not gonna get anywhere. Understand why you're not winning with Diana and then understand how to win with Diana than you'll win more.

Gaining ranks in league is about improving the quality of your gameplay, not the quantity.

My suggestion is to simply record your games, and analyze each one for things you did wrong. Then, in your next game, fix a few of them.

Rinse and repeat till diamond

I don't think I'll climb in silver, either. It seems like a random crap shoot of who gets more trolls. Just had a 1/7 mid laner that basically intenting because support picked LB....even tho we absolutely shit on our lane. The people that play this game are bullshit. And the fact that trolls are not punished is even worse.

I can't give much advice, but if you wanna carry some, try Gragas out, maybe in a normals first if you want. He's very simple, tanky and does quite a bit of damage. He's not bad top lane and is a great ganker as a jungler. Also while in jungle with his passive, it's very easy to get away with keeping your health up and clears camps pretty easily. Razor birds and Krugs both get rekt by his W and E blodyslam. Obviously you wont be out-damaging people end game stats, but tanks can carry too. Doesn't seem to be your play style though considering the champs you main. Just a thought :)

Just stick to a champion that you enjoy and you will climb. Silver is all about getting decent mechanically, and simpler champions tend to be able to do that faster. Fiora, Draven, and Riven multiplicatively scale between game experience and skill. They're really solid champions if you're in the top 1% of the playerbase in terms of mechanics and map awareness... Not really for silvers.

I Like Miss Fortune, and Quinn. Those are both good picks for someone at your skill level. (Top lane quinn, MF botlane.) For another top laner, Diana works, or you could do Jax, Renekton, Pantheon, or Trynda. They aren't as mechanically intensive, but these champions aren't easy either. They require other knowledge to play at a higher level. For ADC, i would suggest learning Twitch, Jhin, or Trist atm.

But, if you want fast elo, just play annie.

Just have fun!

Diana's good for deleting one person while being somewhat tanky. But if you play right, you might be able to kill two. You could try to learn how your opponent champions play by playing them yourself, so you eliminate or reduce the chance of you losing lane at all.

Record one or more of your games. Upload it/them and post it/them here.

Your main doesn't matter, at least up to Plat. You can reach Plat with any Champion. Just find the one that fits you, don't care about balance. Balance is always temporary anyway.

Focus on improving your knowledge, understand why you're not winning. Follow the others' advice, record your games and watch them over.

Work on your mechanic. It will sound mean but bronze and silver players exist because they haven't grasp the basics of the game. Having good mechanic like dodging/hitting skillshots, predicting enemy's action, CS'ing, using your abilities and active items properly, and just overall getting used to pressing QWER in panic situation will easily carry you to plat.

Usually people who struggle to climb also struggle with vision and never buy control wards. Learn to look at your map frequently and always have a control ward placed. Ping every time you see an enemy champion on them map if it is the jungler or a champion who isn't in lane and make a few pings in the direction they are going. This is a team game. It is impossible to win by yourself so really the only way to ensure your team does better is to make sure they don't make any stupid mistakes by overextending when they are about to be ganked.

u can only have 3 wards per player tho. Should I just buy 3 controllers?

Lol, play a strong champion with low mechanics (Annie, Veigar, Malza, etc.) and don't focus on how to use your spells, but what to do in the game in general. ...

I am by no means a fantastic or naturally gifted league player. I've been stuck in bronze, silver and gold at different times. So take what I'm about to say soth a grain of salt, but here's my advice to you.

  1. There's a professional LOL coach who has been asked what the easiest way to climb is and his answer has always been "play Annie". Playing low risk / high reward champs is a great way to climb. Somebody that can be useful when fed or behind, doesn't require too much skill, and doesn't require you dive balls deep into enemy territory. Other examples of this are Brand /Orianna mid, Sion/Galio top, Tristana/Corki ADC, Nautilus/Sejuani JG, Taric/Nami Sup. Remember: utility trumps damage if you are patient and wait for windows of opportunity. Everybody in low elo makes frequent mistakes. You just have to capitalize on them.

  2. Map awareness. This has been stated over and over again and I'm sure you are tired of hearing it but map awareness is not just proper warding. It also means recognizing when the enemy jungler is in the fog of war. Ask yourself these questions: Do I know where the jungler is? Do I know where my own jungler is? Am I positioning myself on the proper side of the map to help with objectives I.E. roaming botlane when the dragon spawns in 30 seconds, or am I teleporting back top lane to get the 3 caster minions at my tower?

  3. Many people forget this but building items on a game by game basis is a huge part of winning. Proper itemization. You should never have 2 games in a row where you build the exact same items in the same order because no two games are the same. Is the enemy adc fed? Build an early seekers arm guard or ninja tabi. Do you see the enemy team has 1 or 2 cloth armors in their inventory? Start building armor pen EARLY. Never wait until you need an item to build it. Always build it preemptively. You may sacrifice a bit of damage but you'll stay alive to throw out another rotation of spells or you'll be able to take down the enemy Shen that just finished item 3068

Diana is really strong mid game pretty much no matter what. You should focus on why you're not winning games. If you're really ahead, you can shove and roam. If your opponent roams, you can take your tower really quickly. I'm guessing you're probably great mechanically but you don't know what to do to concur the map and win the game.

Bronze Chaos deserves to be Bronze Chaos.

If you truly want to ascend, remind yourself that you are the problem and then fix that problem.
