@GhostCrawler, can you explain how you manage to go to bed knowing your giving us utter bs?

On Lee and Thresh -- they are champions we like, but more importantly, they also resonate with a lot of players. It's not a popularity contest, but on the other hand, we believe a lot of why people play them is because they are fun to play, not just because they win a lot. Both champs have a lot of cool abilities, and arguably they both have so many that a) neither has a lot of weaknesses, and b) they compliment almost any comp you try to build. We're trying to figure out ways to make them less awesome in every situation without stripping away what is fun about them. For example, last year or so we tried to tone down Lee's mobility and ward hopping, but it felt terrible, and largely due to player feedback (intelligent, meaningful feedback, not whining and pitchforks) we reverted it.

Dude you're not even trying to hide the fact that what your saying breaks the bullshit meter. Nobody plays Thresh or Lee just because they are "fun", plenty of other champions are more fun but never see competitive play. LCS players play champions like Zed, Lee, Thresh because they are the best at what they do and they're playing for money, not for "fun". If this game's balance was centered around focusing on what your community defines as fun, Rengar would've never been butchered, Karma would have never been reworked, and Cassiopeia wouldn't of been handled by a complete clown.

Plenty of players gave "intelligent and meaningful feedback" on why the Cassiopeia rework and Karma reworks are awful but you ignored it, plenty of players gave feedback on the Ahri nerfs but you ignored it, feedback doesn't mean jackshit to your circus of your balance team.

This is a very narrow view of the game of League of Legends. I know I play Zed because I have fun playing him, not because he's "overpowered" or "freelo". I know I played Ahri extensively throughout my entire League of Legends career not because she was overpowered, because there were defintiely times she was underpowered. I know I kept playing Ezreal even when Tristana and Lucian were gods because I loved playing Ezreal.

And I know I like playing Lee Sin even though I suck dick at him.

This is a game, and I play the game to have fun.

I am glad you are enjoying your game. That is the whole point of the game. I think what OP was talking bout was more of an LCS level. Not soloQ or normals where a lot of people play for fun.

Why do pro players play LCS? Because they have fun doing what they do. Otherwise, they would have chosen a different career path. There must be something about the game itself that is fun that draws them to play League of Legends competitively, that being that the game is fun.

What the OP is arguing is very flawed, centered around the assumption that the majority of other champions are more 'fun' than champions like Zed and Thresh, which is biased and wrong, and that champion reworks for champions which were identified as toxic to game balance were in fact more fun. Champions like Rengar, Cassiopeia, and Xerath were changed and reworked because they had aspects which were in fact 'anti-fun', and to make their playstyles more dynamic.

That is, they centered around a style where if they were even remotely strong in the game environment, they would ruin the opponent's 'fun', for a comparitvely low amount of 'fun' for the player playing that champion.

When you play Lee Sin, you have several strengthes, but it relies heavily on your ability to play him well, to manage your mobility or pull off Insec's. When you play Thresh, you have the option to pull yourself in, to lead with E, to flash and R, or play back and use lantern. Compared to Rengar, who originally just killed you instantly if he was strong enough by clicking on you, this is much more dynamic, and gives more options to both parties.

Pretty much, the gist is that his argument has nothing to do with LCS at all because it's entirely rooted in the idea that the 'community' knows better, that players don't like playing Zed, Lee and Thresh compared to Rengar and pre-rework Karma, that all parties should be appeased instantly, and that Riot hires clowns to balance the game.
