@Riot Suggestions | Ranked Flex, Twisted Treeline & ARAM need an update

Both gamemodes are desperately in need of balance changes. Understandably, these aren't the primary gamemodes the playerbase plays nor are they probably on Riot's priority list but I believe two gamemodes that are up at all times need a rework or update.

#Ranked Flex:

Ranked Flex faces the issue of a low playrate causing players to face a huge mess of MMR differences in their matches. It's not taken seriously because UI design of the client emphasizes on SoloQ and so does everyone else.

The suggestions are:

  • ~~Have client update profile UI to showcase highest ranking as the largest/centered rank ~~
  • Client already does the above
  • Allow ranked flex to use teambuilder instead

This will allow players who like having organized teams in ranked to play Flex with the test that they can play well in a composition they have control over and those who want to test their luck, mettle, and individual skill/carry potential to try SoloQ. In comparison to Clash, Ranked Flex is simply nothing at this point. You can replace it with Clash instead as Flex is essentially Normals or another way to get end of season rewards.

#ARAM

ARAM suffers from one-sided slaughterfests. It's extremely dull if you're being stomped and late-game is essentially 20 minutes. ARAM accounts and ranged/poke accounts only are also making it hard to play. A significant portion of the player population lies this mode. I believe they also deserve to have it patched up slightly this season. In order to make it fairer, fun, and more interactive here are a few suggestions:

  • To stop ARAM-only accounts, all players playing will have champions randomly picked from the combined pool of champions each player has

  • Example: If Player1 had Vladimir, Player2 had Caitlyn, and Player3 had Yorick rather than just giving them champions from their pool, all champions they have will be in one pool and assigned randomly to each Player even if they have the champion or not.

  • Doesn't this stop people from gaining chests in ARAM? First, ARAM is a fun gamemode and chests are to reward intensive, serious, and great play. Yes, you can do great on ARAM but that's usually due to luck and team comp. Second, this incentives people to get all champions on their accounts if they want chests so more $$$ for Riot.

  • Reducing AoE abilities by 20% of their damage or 20% of their range

  • ARAM is a small map and most AoE abilities have a relatively large radius. Either reduce their damage or range

  • Allowing melee champions to gain more movement speed and passive healing from starter items

  • Melee compositions suffer a lot and catching opponents is an issue since dodging CC as a cluttered group is hard since you can't flank or go around. There are little to no obstacles.

I'm more inclined on the first ARAM suggestion. We can see how everything else is after.

#Twisted Treeline

This gamemode is a 3v3 gamemode that most people never play. You can be Silver and be Diamond V in TT just because of the lack of players. I think this is due to a 3v3 having little to no interactivity with other players like Ranked Solo/Norms/Clash/Flex.I highly suggest reworking the gamemode completely or giving it new changes to give it life like below:

  • Based on areas of the lore, Twisted Treeline will randomly warp its appearance to lore areas.

  • The treeline is "twisted" because it tricks its occupants into believing they're in areas they aren't in.

  • Maps have new obstacles and objectives

  • Maps allow players to explore League's lore through gaming simply by interacting or fighting

  • Given the above suggestion goes through, TT will be 6v6

  • With the new maps, this is a great way to experiment with more than 5 players per team and add life

  • Hexakill is on Twisted Treeline and the opportunity to gain a Hexakill is always fun :)

Flex 5s i think is ok where its at.. people dont really take it seriously.. BUT it allows things like practice.. like in flex 5s i only play jungle but in soloQ im a support main.

on the note of twistedtreeline.. ive always liked this mode but it really needs alot of work put into it.. between map redesign. to Keystone balance ghost poro is broken to things like Kayn being busted or tahm kench.. and no i think twisted treeline should be 3v3 ONLY even tho alot of people dont play it.. there is still a decent sized community that plays it thats why riot Kept in the ranked system.. if you wanted to make it hexakill.. or anything like that... Why not just play summoners rift? there would be no point in having twisted treeline if it was changed from its 3v3 format

Same thing with Normal Blind Pick SR, but that inexplicably even has Mastery tokens enabled unlike ARAM. There should be some leeway on chests with unowned champs (e.g. one a month) to reduce frustration (and dodging) for ARAM players. Champ Mastery 6 and 7 should also finally be enabled for all permanent modes at least.

What do you mean by "no interactivity"?

A significant reason for the lack of popularity for TT and other non-SR game modes is that Riot's never really supported them. Considering the lack of features (e.g. ranked, Champ Mastery, minion skins), advertisement (e.g. pro-play, Missions), and balance changes, people don't play those modes because Riot's never given people much of a reason to play them. It's less of a gameplay issue and more of a perception issue.

Based on areas of the lore, Twisted Treeline will randomly warp its appearance to lore areas.

That sounds potentially agonizing for competitive play.

It's a perception issue because the gamemodes hame gameplay issues. Their gameplay aren't ever updated so players find no appeal to them along with the fact they're smaller maps with fewer things to interact with.

Sorry, I meant in the sense that outside events/influences (such as no updates) are more impactful than any inherent design flaws. There's certainly various gameplay elements that could be improved, but that's the same for SR too. Non-SR game modes won't be popular as long as League of Legends seemingly consists of only Summoner's Rift. Even the "SR and friends" notion from previous years was better than the current state.

They could just bring old season 1-2 twisted tree line back and update it slightly , it was actually good and had a dedicated player base.

Are you kidding? ARAM is already "league of tanks" in high elo and you want to give melee champs more bonuses? No.
