Why does conditioning have a range of 800?

The rune called conditioning reads as this.

"After 10 minutes gain 6 armor and 6 magic resist and increase your total armor and magic resist by 5%.

Range: 800 units"

What in this rune can possibly have a range on it?

The range of what hits you has nothing to do with what your resistances are. It doesn't say "if enemy champions are nearby." It is just a static resistance buff.
