Where are the "Aurelion Sol is OP" threads?!

Arakk01··32 votes·10,077 views

He has been out for literally hours now! He has a stun! He does damage! He can be played support OR mid! I don't hear enough outrage!!!! How is this overloaded champ not completely ruining all of your ranked games yet?

Sincerely, -A PBE Aurelion Sol Main

P.S.: He's actually balanced enough- but in the vein of Lee Sin for sick play making potential, in addition to being easy to learn. Plus, his voice is sexy, so he's easy to tolerate practicing.

Does he actually work out well as a support? (actual legitimate question here)

Wouldn't your stars take CS quite often unless you're especially careful with your positioning (which in itself can often force you into less than desirable positions)?

Llanite2 votes

Not very useful since the stars give you away so they know where the stun might come from and hide behind minions.

Softa like Blitz but they always know where you are =/

Yes and no, respectively. Your stars orbit quite slowly in passive mode and won't reach CS from the brush- the most desirable position.

As for what he has in his kit, he plays differently than most supports and even Aurelion mid. He's a great placer of Zz'rot portals thanks to his E, great at warding for the same reason. He can back often thanks to his E passive, without leaving his ADC alone too long. His W is good for securing skirmishes- even once the other botlaners back off, they're bound to take a boop or two. And his Q.. It's what ties all of it together. Somewhere between a Taric stun and a Zilean stun, there lies an Aurelion Sol Q.

You do have to mind your position, but not nearly as much as you'd think- it's okay to hit the CS every so often, it can actually HELP your ADC secure them and push the wave because the execute only occurs if you'd drop the minion low enough for a caster bolt or two to kill- AKA securing it if you mess up and make it too low for your ADC.

I think he's actually rather weak. His abilities aren't reliable and it feels like he won't do well outside of support. Though I think he will do fairly well as a support. Just my first impressions though, can't really tell if he's good or not until people learn him.

IcyPepper1 votes

I think a big part of his kit is getting the most out of his passive, the spells themselves are a bit lackluster at times.

A Miss Fortune5 votes

His abilities are mostly fine, it's just that the orbs are ridiculously easy to avoid. High ranged champions counter Aurelion because they can stay outside of his orb range, but the worse part is that melee champions can altogether avoid getting hit by any of Aurelion's orbs completely. Basically Riot wants Aurelion's gameplay/power to be focused around using his orbs but his orbs are by far the weakest part of his kit simply because you can avoid them without much trouble.

IcyPepper1 votes

I believe the orbs apply on-hit effects, so maybe rushing item 3116 and kiting is the key? You could throw in a lichbane somewhere as well, if you want to focus on aa'ing.

VentusDragoon7 votes

That's literally exactly what they said to do in the spotlight. Does no one watch those anymore?

IcyPepper2 votes

Well, I guess it's a good thing I came to that exact conclusion? o.O

He doesn't even say it once.

A Miss Fortune2 votes

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. Rylai's for the orbs and Lich Bane to help his damage. Though most people have been going a weird bruiser-ish build with Rod.

Solaris Ventara2 votes

litch bane doesn't realy work for him. your rarely ever using basic attacks :/

kile1471 votes

Spell effects, on-hit would be item 3091, item 3057 etc.

IcyPepper1 votes

Yes, that was a mistake.

StarlingSweet1 votes

Well I wouldn't rush item 3116 simply because item 3027 is an EXTREMELY good item for him and it takes time to stack so getting it second isn't really viable.

Without item 3116, you cant stick to anything. So that just means you're useless for another 10-12mins

There's no threads bitching about Aurelion being op because he's actually absolute garbage. Every part of his kit is slow and highly telegraphed, he does no damage, his Q is a worse version of Anivia's, his passive makes farming more difficult as it can throw off last hitting, and at low levels doesn't do enough damage to be used for last hitting, he's so squishy even with hp items that just sneezing on him will kill him... Every part of him is bad. Playing Sol is asking to feed and lose.

Aniela3 votes

I found him really clunky and awkward to play, not to mention he feels like he'd have a lot of predators and counters to his kit and design overall.. That's just my experience at least, I guess.

Solaris Ventara1 votes

he knocks both rengar and panthion back mid air when they try to jump on him XD

Pretty much.

Narasimha3 votes

Honestly, he's kind of... meh. He's got the same exact problem as Sion. A very strong kit, that's so heavily telegraphed he may as well call his opponent and tell them what he's about to do.

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

He has to actually hurt something before the forums will complain.

Jungle VS Lee Win, Elise, Vi, Rammus. Mid VS Zed, Yasuo, Fizz, Talon Top VS . . . Well... lets be honest. 80% of standard top laners will shit on him. Support VS Janna, Soraka, Naut, Thresh, Blitz ADC VS Champions with non-mana dependent DPS

I see a lot of potential for our newest lizard. But the current meta really isn't too friendly towards space lizards.

La Barbotte2 votes

casue hes not, i think for once they sent us a balanced champion, he has weaknesses and strenghts, (aram Q is op tho but meh i dont care about aram at all)

Darkinlegend2 votes

Yeah amazing, it only took years of everyone skewering Riot on the boards for them to stop amateur hour and release a champion that is balanced from the start.

Arsenic Sulfur2 votes

But what about Jhin? Did we forget about him already?

La Barbotte1 votes

jhin got too many weakness for the one strenght he got, which is high range damage, but he gave up absolutely everything else for it

Jhin UItd JFK4 votes

Jhin has a 53% winrate and is expecting nerfs next patch.

The only buffs he got after release changed his base armor by like 2, his base MS by 5 and his HP regen by a minimal amount.

Jhin was "technically" balanced on release seeing as how it took a long while for people to learn how to play him correctly. Just like Poppy

La Barbotte1 votes

yeah im not saying he cant win, im saying he gave up mobility, constant dps, high wave clear for having the highest per AA dmg and a super long range (W,R) so jhin while a good champion, will always have someone better than him for any aspect exept raw damage

VentusDragoon2 votes

Eh, not really. Jhin fills a unique niche, a marksman that heavily, heavily relies on his team to perform perfectly. Even Kog'maw (before OP buffs) was never as reliant as him. Jhin has so many tools to set up fights and help out his team from 2 screens away it's insane. However, in SoloQ-- no one bothers to protect the adc most of the time, so you end up playing Grey Screen Simulator more than you play Jhin.

La Barbotte1 votes

i agree with you for that, he kinda feel like a supportish adc where he opens up plays for his teamates with his long range slows and root

Wenderwall1 votes

Just visualize Yasuo as adc and AurelionSol as sup.

La Barbotte1 votes

meh, things like that works BUT you lack range dps a regular adc provides so you'd need an adc in another lane (season 6 OP) but that must be annoying to lane against XD

Wenderwall1 votes

lol.. yas has pretty decent range with his knock up and he blocks every projectile. So ranged adcs and mazes do nothing. While Sol is constantly poking with his passive.

Does sol's passive do tower damage too?

La Barbotte1 votes

i dont mean in lane i mean late game, yasuo is melee, he goes in the middle of the fight you need range constant dps for tanks and objectives so you need one of those with you on the team Ashe Azir Caitlyn Cassiopeia Corki Ezreal Graves Jinx Draven Kalista Kindred KogMaw Lucian MissFortune Quinn Ryze Sivir Teemo Tristana Twitch Urgot Varus Vayne and no sol's passive dont hurt turrets

lane will be fine tho yasuo A.sol you get good all ins, yasuo can manage to farm a little vs ranged oponent but keep in mind his W is up every like 24 seconds so its not a big window to farm between getting bullied early one, once they hit six is the wombo potential i guess

Wenderwall1 votes

Few games I played (and against) bot lane Yasuo it ended with yas destroying bot and mid lanes.

A.sol combo might not so great if his W CD is so high and with no turret damage. So how does Sol's passive interact with item 3303/item 3092 ? Will he get gold from passive attacks on champs?

La Barbotte1 votes

the W i was talking about was yasuos W, aurelion W cd is short as F, and he does get gold from stars yes

Wenderwall1 votes

Gotcha.

They have only made minor buffs or clarity/QOL changes to Illaoi. Same for Jhin and kindred and gnar. For the past 8 champions they are at a 62% success rate which isn't bad considering they need a lot of data to balance a champion

EnvyDragon1 votes

But Illaoi and Kindred are kind of garbage right now... (Unless they get really fed, in which case they go nuts. But that's the same with a lot of champs.)

lslands9 votes

Kindred garbage? Shes the best jungler in the game specially in high elo

Spicy Rice2 votes

I honestly feel he is rather on the weak side

JafarThePanda2 votes

I want to buy him but I can't justify it. I want to actually try to jungle him because someone I saw on youtube was doing REALLY good jungling him. However - this is how I would go about a final build for him, and I already know this kit is EXPENSIVE, but man would he wreck. item 1414 item 3116 item 3151 item 3285 item 3020 item 3001

ImTheSideKick6 votes

item 1414 and item 3285 don't stack...

JafarThePanda1 votes

I learned this through zac after I posted this

VentusDragoon1 votes

People are already banning him, for some insane reason.

I will say I don't get why you'd want him support or jungle though. He literally cannot hide in bushes at all... which is very detrimental to the both of those roles.

People ban because they dont want that one kid who says he is a main from pbe and feeds all game or just dont want to deal with learning how to play vs him
