Why is nobody playing him then?

the reason he has a 55% winrate is BECAUSE no one plays him. not the other way around

That + he is very situational, and his playerbase knows and accepts that, and only picks Galio if it's actually great idea to pick him. It's not like with say Zed, whose players play him regardless of composition, coz "Zed or bad".

Hes actually a very good mid laner, I dont know why hes unpopular.

Galio's playstyle works best when you wait for teamfights and set things up perfectly for an ult or a slow and speed engage on catching somebody out. Meanwhile most people at low elo want to go ham all the time and use him wrong. And at high elo, he's not as strong as a number of other picks. So playing him requires above average game knowledge in low elo or high dedication at high elo. Personally, I absolutely love Galio. He's my main mid lane champion. But watching how other people play, it's not surprising they don't play him. But all it takes is for a pro player to play him once and they'll flock to him blindly and realize how powerful he is. Thankfully, he has a lot of counters like Braum, Udyr, and Garen that stop pros from playing him.

Because of a bunch of reasons I don't want to text out.

because the instant people that aren't galio mains start playing him his winrate is going to drop down harder than a boulder attached to a million boulders from the sky

55% Winrate, for like what? 30 people? A sample size that small is obviously going to inflate the winrate.
