A serious question about Yasuo's armor pen on R.

Does he really need it? I mean, he already has enough burst to delete squishy champs and has very decent DPS (both due to crit passive). So my logic thought would be to play a tank and build Sunfire Cape, Randuin, Tabi, Thornmail and Frozen heart. But then he presses R and just ignores it.

So, my question would be: ¿Is there any legit reason to allow him to be able to melt tanks without itemizing with that objective? (I mean building BoTrK and Lord Dominik's). If there is one, i will accept it, but at the moment i just don't understand why this happens.

Thematically, it fits him. He is able to channel his power into his sword, using the wind to find flaws in his opponent's armor dealing damage and ignoring half of a person's armor.

Yasuo is not as good with item 3153 as people think, and it really is only good for games where you KNOW you will be able to just wail away on tanks without getting CC'd or bursted. item 3036 is good, but only if the enemy team is really stacking armor and health against you.

Realistically, you may never even get Armor Pen at all. My normal build is item 3046item 3031item 3006item 3072item 3156item 3026 and really, I don't get any PEN because I need lifesteal and survivability in fights.

But, if he had no built in armor pen in his kit, he would be nearly unplayable unless the entire enemy team were squishy which, even in this meta and playerbase, is kind of unlikely.

Of course, I may get item 3036 if the situation called for it, but it is not a guaranteed thing.

TL:DR, he needs it so that he can be a viable Melee hyper carry, AKA, his role in a game.

The main problem is Yasuo is once again: "A champion who gets so many free gimmicks and no 'crit dmg reduction', 'lack of range clicks on E' and so on that grant him so many times more boons compared to cons."

No high skill requirement will ever compensate to that because we have so many other champions who have also have high skill requirements, but don't get some no-cost kit, Q gets bonus cdr via atk spd scaling, double critical hit chance and a anti-armor shred measure. Even with the change to R's armor shred only applying to crits, it still doesn't stop his relatively easy setup of countering any 'range based champion' who uses pokes or similar abilities via Yasuo's passive shield and 'negates all projectiles' W and can easily use his E to escape from plenty of situations and can get even faster as he gets more move speed. you have to basically one shot him in a instant to prevent him from easily sliding out of a trade and negating all projectile CC with ease.

Still funny that alot of the 'common grab' or abusively strong or annoying champions consist of no-cost/energy champions: Yasuo LeeSin Zed Shen.

Get no-cost passive abilities that grant ridiculously strong gimmicks(on top of making the champion have alot less mana they have to burn up and less button presses necessary to win trades and team fights with ease) or even have a active on top of them that makes them strong: Jax Vayne XinZhao.

And so on and so 'forth' that Riot really needs to address particular champions, because it feels a little unfair when i never feel like i have the chance to be able to fight back against some of those champions, unless im fed or got a team mate ready to ambush jump in when they jump me OR im playing a even more broken champion/build instead.

That reaction at the end was me to your post. Let me explain.

I'm going to say something that is completely true if you take a second to think about it.

Yasuo's Crit Passive Balances Him

You might not believe it for yourself, but it is true. Yasuo is built around his crit passive. Here's why.

Remember Tanksuo?

item 3078item 3022item 3047item 3748item 3026item 3065

That shit was busted. It allowed him to expand on the already present survivability in his kit while still dealing just as much damage.

He has to build glass cannon to deal any damage now. You need to have crit and you need to build nearly full damage to be useful. He needs his survivability so that he can still be a melee hyper carry. If he did not need to build crit, we would have another Tanksuo on our hands. Thanks to the way his kit works, he is able to build melee hyper carry and still be able to survive in fights. However, if he gets locked down and focused, he is fucked. He may be able to wipe the floor with your team early on, but once 5 on 5 teamfights happen, he needs to have his team with him or he is likely to die before even getting to the back line.

So going forth, they need to address popular champs. True, but it is horribly stupid to think that Yasuo needs any more changes. He is fine the way he is. Just because you can't see how his kit fits together does not mean Riot can't. They know what is truly right for balancing him. Just removing anything you don't like will only result in destroying his kit, something riot would never do.

He's a melee hypercarry from my understanding and a high dps champion. He's naturally inclined to be strong against tanks.
