The Boards Hipocrasy irks me.

Remember the term "sejuani'd"? When a champion grows too powerful from a change, be it item or mastery, and is then nerfed? Only to have the offending item/mastery nerfed as well?

Remember how we've campaigned against that? How we constantly ask Riot to focus on the change and NOT what made the champion powerful?

And yet, despite all that, there are numerous people clamoring for Vi nerfs. You know when's the last time Vi got buffed? 6.17. Yes. Several patches before the changes to the mastery tree. For the curious:

>V6.17 ** Blast Shield** Cooldown reduced to 16 - 8 (based on level) seconds from 18 - 8 (based on level). ** Vault Breaker** Cooldown reduced to 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 / 8 seconds from 18 / 15.5 / 13 / 10.5 / 8. Knockback duration changed to 0.7 seconds from 0.5 - 0.75. ** Excessive Force** Upon first level up, Vi immediately gains two charges of Excessive Force.

These buffs didn't suddenly make Vi good. She was still outclassed. She could dive better early but she wasn't exactly a powerhouse. So what -did- change around her?

  • The change of buffs: More single-target means Vi can clear even faster. Despite what you might think with excessive force, Vi is a great single-clear champion above all else. The focus on the buffs being single-clear gives Vi a bit more speed when it comes to clearing.
  • Plants: Honeyfruit helps circumvent Vi taking a lot of damage in the jungle, considering her only mitigation tool early was a long CD shield...which also got slightly buffed. Go figure right? Not to mention blast-cone lets her clear walls without wasting her Q, meaning her ganks can come even faster from more angles.
  • CotC: By far the biggest offender, Vi with CotC gives her a fuckton more survivability. Double this with the fact that she's often diving past a TON of other champions, Vi is getting a fat shield in almost every team fight.

But let's be real, there's a clear reason why people call Vi out for nerfs but think Sejuani was a crime against humanity:

Sejuani was a tank Vi is a diver.

The boards have a massive tank-bias and think that tanks should be the metric by which other classes are judged. Don't believe me? Ever consider how people thought that the tank meta in the cinderhulk patch was the best time in the game ever? Ever consider how Sion is repeatedly said to be the best rework? How about how Poppy or Maokai being out-of-line is ignored while Yasuo, Fiora, Gangplank and others are more demanded for the nerf chopping block?

The boards doesn't want balance. The boards wants to reinforce the meta THEY think is good.

This is the most obvious thing about this place and Reddit. Honestly this shouldn't be surprising.

I totally hated the cinderhulk meta. Top gromp smite skirmishers. Mid chogath with cinderhulk. 5 man dives on botlane, total disregard of towers. Nexus taken down at 20 mins.

50 minutes, but yeah, other stuff sucked.

That meta the game ended in 20 mins. One teamfight broke the outer tower to inhib straight out.

No it didn't. It stalled the game until like 45-50 and then it became "Who killed Vayne/Jinx first?". Late game was the only thing that mattered in the Cinderhulk meta.

People hate damage in this game. Simple.

I agree, it annoys me to see champions who are completely balanced(Darius Yasuo for example) but get nerfed due to the boards constant complaining...

Literally nothing has changed in Vi's kit for numerous patches and has literally only became popular because of the new jungle and mastery. Both of which got nerfed yet people still qq because they think Vi is some god like champion with absolutely 0 counter play.

Also how the fuck does Vi see nerfs before Hecarim who has been dominating the jungle for god knows how long?

I wouldn't say any champion is completely balanced. Besides, the end game, is that this is a game, and is meant to be fun. Champs like Darius and Yasuo, while not being directly OP, lead to situations where the game no longer is fun for anyone, but the person playing the champ. This is something Riot has talked about before, and tries to balance with game balance.

man I tried to not respond to this, but I just can't. To start ill give you that hecarim is a bigger problem than vi, but I think that comes down to the fact that at least personally Vi is a more popular pick. This kinda leads into the darius and yasuo thing to where they are overexposed to the point where they are certainly going to be the talk of the town as far as nerfs go. With their strengths being the thing that is talked about and not the counter play possibilities that are in play. That is why they are talked about so much; however, I do have to say that some of the things that are said do in fact have substance, and they both certainly aren't balanced. Especially yasuo. (Darius is just the least fun champ to lane against in the game in my humble opinion, but you beat him with teamwork so I mean ok, could be worse). Now I know they just had a balance change to yasuo with his e. Which wasn't really much, but at least they did something. The main problem with yasuo is whenever he is picked he is either going to be the reason you win or the reason you lose a game. This depending upon if he is fed or not. In my book this isnt balance. Predicating the whole game on the shoulders of someone who decided to pick that champ is ridiculous. Go ahead shoot me i know Ill die with my convictions

We need a Teemo meta.
