Small Reward-Based Buff For Varus

I always felt like Varus was a remarkably slow ADC, even with his six item build, he still seems to lag behind other champions in terms of movement speed, ontop of the fact that he lags behind super-ranged ADCs like Ashe, and Caitlyn who both have 600+ ontop of utitility that is more readily accessible and synergizes more easily with the rest of their kits and the surrounding team comp.

So I thought why not give Varus a small decaying movement speed burst every time he procs his W's blight stacks, enabling him to actually stick to his opponent, or possibly flee faster by autoattacking, Q/E'ing and then run in the opposite direction and vice versa., this way he gets rewarded for doing damage the way he always meant to.

interesting idea actually. surprised its as original as it is. that said, varus is fine. he's not balanced around his marksman role. this would help him in the adc role, but also unnecessarily help him in the mid lane where he is perfectly balanced. his Q has ginormous range, is a pass through skill shot, and does a fuck ton of damage on a relatively short cooldown once you start getting CDR. that alone means he has to be balanced around that since that is where most of his power in his kit is. the rest of his power is shifted into his ultimate and the blight stacks are more just cherry on top kind of deal.

I love varus. I think he's one of the more balanced champions in league of legends. immobile, but can contribute from great range. has somewhat of an answer to divers trying to approach him, can turn team fights with his ult. has ok utility with grievous wounds. the only thing weird about varus is his passive. it just seems out of place.

he needs slow move speed though and no movement buffs or whatever. he has a slow on his e already. that is enough. his ult and E disengage are actually pretty decent. i dont think varus needs chase potential.

Varus' problem is the clunkiness of his kit. If his Q cast time was lowered by attack speed, he'd be viable.

Varus having low mobility adds to his character. You can't think of him as an adc, but rather a cannon who sits back and launches arrows. He isn't suppose to be able to move around, he just stands still and autoattacks. Don't forget about his passive. His kit is beautiful and he is a very fun champ. Varus can win most 1v1 trades with any adc. Varus' ult is really op. I play him exclusively as adc and have had no complaints.

But varus has by far one of the best pokes for an adc......

Varus doesn't make #LC$BIGPLAY$, so he doesn't get no love.

MunchCrunchLunch8/5/2016, 4:46:51 AM2 votes

hes already picked a lot in pro play and often banned so good luck with that

I think this would be a good idea, but it should probably be if he cashs in on 3 blight stacks rather than just one, as he can just auto once then through an E behind him and kite rather easily. Or make it like 10 movespeed for one blight stack for a couple secs, 20 for two stacks and like 60 for all 3 stacks. That way he is encouraged to stay for at least 3 autos rather than play like Ezreal with longer cooldowns.

AP Varus buffs? I'll take it.

General Esdeath 8/5/2016, 8:04:26 AM2 votes

And then Varus mid dominates and he gets nerfed to the ground.

BloodyTompon8/5/2016, 10:08:29 AM2 votes

Why? Because buffs and nerfs are often opportunistic. Varus is quite strong at the moment and sees occasional pro play suggesting that he does not need buffs right now.

Unstoppable Monk8/5/2016, 11:00:10 AM2 votes

Varus is more of a marksman that will stand and fight. He ain't practicing running away.

I have no problem with Varus being viable in mid-lane, however, the role he should excel at should be the role he was designed for and that is AD Carry.

That or they can increase his actual passive and give it the Master yi's Ult treatment. The more you kill, the longer you keep the buff. 60% attack speed when he kills, 20% for 1 minion kill, 30% for killing 3 in a row.

Do Not Buff Varus :| buffs=OMG Rito plz nerf=varus worse than he was befor buffs.

statelesskiller8/5/2016, 10:22:32 AM1 votes

varus isnt a ADC anymore sadly. he is a ad caster. a midlaner. he relies on the long range damage of his Q (which did you know at max cdr if you charge it long enough you can q instantly right after that?) to deal damage. he builds youmoos maw. duskblade. alot of armor pen. he buys tear. and his w passive is literally based entirely around casting abilities. because the onhit damage is just . . . terrible

or you go full ap varus which is the tank buster which your passive will utterly obliterate any tank that dares to take 3 autos from you
