Shift Malzahar's Passive To His Ultimate

The biggest problem pre-rework Malzahar had was not taking too much damage, as late game he could have up to three AP+HP items built STANDARDLY (RoA, Liandry's Torment, and Rylai's) it was that he was too easily knocked out of his ultimate by crowd control effects.

So why not solve the problem by shifting the cc immunity to Malzahar's ult as a strictly active effect.

"ACTIVE: Malzahar Grounded icon knocks down an enemy champion. For the next 2.5 seconds Malzahar channels, during which the target is Suppression icon suppressed.

A Null Zone is opened beneath the target that lasts 5 seconds, dealing magic damage every second to both Nether Grasp's target as well as all other enemies within it.

(Addendum) In addition, Malzahar blocks the first instance of crowd control, lasting for 1.0 seconds."

Remove passive and add something that actually benefits him instead of giving him this once-toxic-but-now-useless pseudo-tank/banshee's veil passive. As for what that new passive should be, I honestly have no clue, as his kit would be pretty well-rounded and fair after the implementation of my proposed change, and the last thing I need is another repeat of the last five months.

that will mean his ult has literally no counterplay other than QSS.

I main malzahar and I don't really think I would like this at all. This means that people like an Ahri or TF who managed to land a good card/charm when they predicted their ult and also gives malzahar a psuedo get out of jail free card for ulting someone at an inopportune time. Yeah, it always sucks to get cc'd right when you started your ult, but I don't think this is the solution.

I'm not to fond of his current passive myself, especially since it's been so controversial since the change and it's led to malzahar having a lot of power stripped from his kit and being nerfed repeatedly with zero compensation as well as not feeling like it fits thematically, so I would be more than welcome to see something completely different for it some time down the line.

how about we get rid of his shield entirely and give him some damage back
