Depend on what you want to do on this specific game.

Trinity is a must have for me and I see absolutely no case where I wouldn’t take it (but not necessarily as first item) as it's a core item for sustained and burst damage and mobility.

For some hard match up with a lot of poke (for example swain) I rush the sustain with a bit of resistance (usually the boot). But rushing trinity with a bit of resistance will give you a better all-in so it might be better depending ont the match up (if you don’t know go for sustain and farm).

When I build guinsoo I usually do it with BrK (good synergy on on-hit effect and both serve the same purpose: heavy sustained damage).

For boots: mercury (against magic damage and CC – other than knock up) or tabi ninja (against AA based opponents).

Main adaptation for build is the match up for splitpush. If you need sustained damage for a difficult match up go for BrK + guinsoo (my usual order path would be trinity and boots – > BrK – > defence item – > Guinsoo – > Titanic hydra/second defense item). You can just do BRK if you don't need the guinsoo. I still really rarely build Guinsoo, it's a strong item on Jax but specific case and pretty late.

BrK is also a good choice against mobile champion for chasing (like riven).

BrK give you a good damage against tanks but way less sustain than Gunblade so both are good option.

If you don’t need sustained damage (more teamfight, 1v2 against bot lane, squishy opponents on splitpush) you’ll probably want to go for more bursty damage (trinity + gunblade) and lot more tankyness.

Usual tank item is: spirit visage against magic damage, dead man plates (standard)/randuin (Crit/AA based champions are dangerous) against physical, GA.

On a side note titanic hydra is a really nice last item. Gunblade give AP so MR with your ult so tend to be better than BRK against AP.

There some other item that are good for very unsual setup (like Wit's end).
