Why do people think skilllshots = difficulty?
I just read a post where someone stated LeBlanc wasn't hard, because you don't even need her skillshot to kill someone.
So needing it would make her hard?
And it's not just that, MANY times I've seen this scenario:
"X Champion is so easy & Freelo wtf"
"How? They have 3 skillshots in their kit"
I don't understand.
First of all, let me explain what a skillshot is. A skillshot is something that is aimed and travels outwards from your champion, like Jinx's W or Ryze's Q. Something like Corki's Q, Viktor's E, they are not technically skillshots. I used to think they were skillshots as well, and there are different definitions, but for the most part I find that the general consensus is that definition.
Why is that important? Because it means every skillshot works in pretty much the same exact way. If you can do it once, you can do it one thousand times.
Aiming a skillshot is one of the first thing a new player picks up when they start this game, so why would it make anybody hard?
This ties in to the reason Riot is changing old abilities and making them skillshots. Skillshots are different from point and click abilities because they offer counterplay. You can dodge a ball skillshot, you can't dodge a wrench pantheon spear. I don't know why people complain about new champions having skillshots all the time. Yes, MANY of the new champions have had skillshots, but for all those skillshots, Riot has made each of them perform a different role.
Ekko: Damage/passive proc. Azir: Damage/re-positioning of his soldiers Rek'Sai: Scouting (shut up it doesn't hit that hard, it's supposed to reveal people when you're burrowed)
Those all have damage tied to them, sure (there are few things that don't have damage tied to it) but their overall purpose is different from one to the other.
TL;DR (why do you even come to the forums?) A skillshot is a type of skill that is easy to use/pick up. It can be used to do many different things, and it offers counterplay which is why Riot uses them so often.
edit: Everybody seems to think that I'm saying skillshots are just as easy to land as point-and-click abilities.
I'm just saying skillshots don't make something hard, because all skillshots are the same (or similar). I've said that more than once throughout this post. No shit they're harder to land than something guaranteed to land.
