Does Karma need buffs?

First things first, this is a discussion thread. I'm not saying "Karma needs buffs", i'm asking "Does Karma need buffs?"

The weird thing about Karma is she isn't played much at all, and had some awkward changes to her ult a while ago that put her in a (possibly?) worse spot. It seems like so little is known about her strength because she is underplayed. Her strengths and weaknesses however are very clear.

As a support she offers high harass and a speed boost to save, or assist her adc. But even with her shields she is squishy, and has no hard cc outside of her very unreliable root.

As a mid laner, she is a medium damage mage, that is pretty much obsolete at this point in the mid lane. With the mage updates, and so many much more efficient midlaners ( ) She cant really win lane unless the skill gap is very high. However, this could be fine! She isn't great mid, but can be great as a support.

Her kit consists of a medium range poke, a root and a shield. However her root is so weak and awkward to use. The chain length seems much shorter than leblanc's and it doesn't even snare for as long. Overall this ability is pretty useless outside of just using it on someone because you can. This ability feels very awkward and unrewarding. Changing it into a possible skillshot root, or even something completely unique like a movement speed stealing link could be fun and more useful. Additionally giving Karma the ability to link to an ally with it could be great too. Possibly boosting the allies damage, or resistances could boost her utility as a support.

What do you guys think about Karma? Does she need changes? If so, what kind? Or does she need to stay the same?
