Item concept for Supports supporting Mages Bot Lane

Paint Brush

  • Cost: 500 Gold
  • UNIQUE Passive: Pick up a color at the shop!
  • UNIQUE Passive: Damaging an enemy champion marks them. Allied champions' basic attacks against marked enemies deal 10 +3% of their total Mana as bonus magic damage on-hit and restore Mana equal to the damage dealt (on target cooldown).

Colors are 0 Gold but you can only have one. They would then correspond to desirable stats, like Red for Health, Blue for Mana, Green for Ability Power, Yellow for Armor, Purple for Magic Resistance, Orange for Attack Damage. You could make it a little more complicated with having the three primary colors as options on tier 1 Paint Brush and then mixing them together for upgrades.

Mages have higher base Mana pools and get more Mana through items so the passive is better for them without being useless on Marksmen, and it promotes interaction in lane with Mages having to walk up and auto for the bonus damage and Mana restore. It could be upgraded into virtually any Support item, too.

Taking the more complicated version, I'm having troubles thinking of a good starting value for Yellow, though. Red could be Health and Blue Ability Power, then what would Yellow be? Armor? Green would be Armor + Ability Power, Orange Armor + Health, and Purple Health + Ability Power, then. That could work.

The passive could also work against Epic Monsters and Towers, either right away or as upgrades. That way you could choose to cover for weaknesses your Mage might have. Need pushing strength? Take Green (for example). Need mobility? Purple could give you a burst of Movement Speed when you proc the mark. Need survivability? Orange could give you a shield maybe?

Why would a mage want a support to buy an item that requires them to use basic attacks? Maybe rework it to proc off of abilities, that would be more inline to what a mage wants in a support item.

As in your proposed item effect is exactly the same as Muramana, except that it would stack with it.

It's the same in the same way that Recurve Bow and Duskblade are the same, though.

Wat

Your item is almost identical to Muramana's, only set up to apply to an ally instead of applying to the owner (thus allowing the passives to stack, which could be potentially problematic to balance).

Recurve and Duskblade share literally nothing in common; not stats, not passives, not even intended user class. The only two explanations I can think of for your reply is that either you typed Duskblade while thinking of something else, you're a complete moron, or you're actively trolling. I'm going with the mistype explanation for now.

Paint Brush: Health, Ability Power or Armor as stats. You can choose which. Let's an ally proc a mark to deal (10 + 3% of their Mana) as bonus magic damage once every [low cooldown] and restore Mana equal to the amount dealt. Costs 500 Gold and builds out of nothing.

Muramana: Attack Damage, Mana. Special upgrade of Manamune that needs time to be completed. Grants Attack Damage equal to 2% of your Mana. Deals bonus physical damage on hit equal to 6% of your current Mana and consumes 3% of current Mana in the process. Costs 2400 Gold and builds out of an advanced item and an 875 gold item.

Let's play a game called find the similarities. The only ones I can think of are the Keywords 'Mana' and 'on-hit'. So you seeing those two and thinking the items are "almost identical" is the same as seeing 'physical damage' and 'on-hit' when comparing Duskblade and Recurve Bow and thinking those two are almost identical.

I have a concept too

leaking mana potion 50 armor 10% cdr 100% manaregen

Unique passive: Nearby allies restore mana equal to your current manaregen

Active: Consume, restores 100 mana over 10 seconds, 4 charges refills at shop

Or

Focus crystal

Unique active: Bind with target ally, half their manacosts are shared with you and you grant them up to 20% of your excess cdr
