Does Crit Really Belong In This Game?

Think of it like this. Imagine if you're fighting this Syndra and she goes to ult you but it happens to RNG crit and you die. Wouldn't feel too good, would it?

Well, this is exactly how ADCs work. Auto attacks can be one of the most damaging attacks in the game. With such an attack that can't be dodged (excluding rare cases such as Yasuo's windwall) it really shouldn't being doing extra damage because of some RNG gods.

It seems rather silly for a highly skill-based game to come down to a simple RNG mechanic. Crits can decide games on both sides.

For example, dodge was removed for the very nature of it being an RNG factor that shouldn't really exist. So why does Crit still exist?

tl;dr Crits are a toxic mechanic that should have been removed long ago with dodge.

I feel it'd be great if they redesigned crit to be more controllable, like you get extra damage in specific situations (like how ashe gets crits on slowed opponents). I'm peeved that crit is a random factor and that, unless your crit % is around 100, both you and your opponent are putting your faith in the luck of the dice, rather than anything planned/tactical.

I'd rather they just call it precision and have the crit multiplier work just like Ashe's passive while having items give increased damage (crit effects) based on gameplay such as a first attack, back attack, # of consecutive attacks against a target, and other strategic scenarios like item 3078 passive.

pretty much...RNG like crit doesn´t belong in a competitive-game - but that issue is long discussed (->http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/live-gameplay/hbEj1jWi-can-we-finally-phase-crits-rngesus-out-of-the-game dates back 2years), Riot even agrees that Crit is bad and still they come up with sth like this darn preseason where they put crit on everything but the kitchensink. Really a frustrating topic to bring up.

So you think auto-attacks do damage that's comparable to Syndra's ult?

Never once said that the damage was comparable. Was just comparing the idea of an ability that you can't dodge hitting you for extra damage because RNG gods blessed you.

Never once said that the damage was comparable.

Then your analogy makes no sense
