yeah back when you know some bruisers and tanks actually didn't die in 2-3 seconds and can stay to do some aoe damage

I miss the old gator days... I use to play him top a lot in season 4 and 5 and loved the champ... now its just egh to me

I get more use out of maokai

he sucks. i stopped playing him months ago. he doesn't have the best early game and he falls off just as hard as pantheon if not worse. hes useless late game. hell even mid game if the enemy team has half assed cc.

There's this handy trick every bruiser can do to stop from falling off. Its called Titanic Hydra+Black Cleaver+Tank.

Saying he falls off is an excuse. Renekton is not a primary tank or slayer. Stop trying to play him like one. You shouldn't be playing him if you don't have another diver/engage tank on your team. Same goes for Irelia, Darius, Illaoi, Nasus, Jax, etc.

Every melee falls off hard. That's due to the game overall being poorly balanced around range/melee dynamics.

Renek is not a special snowflake in that regard. For example, Nasus is a hyperscaling late game carry and he's actually best mid-game because of how gimped melee are overall when it comes to late game.

Because you're either an over-loaded champ, full tank, ranged, or you don't function.

Darius doesn't exactly do well against any of those unless he gets a very significant early lead, which is very easy to avoid.

it does... and its ok... but typically sunfire is best when rushed as a 1st item... as it scales with level and does more damage the lower mr the enemy has...

but there are so many other good choices to rush as gator that it gets pushed back and by the time you get it as 3rd /4th item its less effective.

and an item like deadmans ends up being better due to same amount of armor and hp and plus moving faster and doing more damage based on the passive on it. ( as long as your not cc)

Its practically required to get a Tiamat early so you can animation cancel your W as Renekton.

Itemization changes from a couple seasons ago introduced more effective items for him to build.

Primarily, Black Cleaver, Titanic Hydra and Deadman's Plate have been rather good on him throughout the season.

Since Renekton wants AD to snowball, he will generally want to delay his defensive items. By the time he gets around to buying them, Deadman's Plate or Randuin's Omen is generally more useful.

Sunfire cape is good on almost any melee that wants HP and armor.

The question is whether or not you can afford to have it over other options.

Yeah, I haven't seen as much Renekton top at all. He is just outclassed by other champions and I know all I have to do is not die to him pre level 7 and I will just win against him.
