Are we ever going to get another champ who can act as a mana battery?

The old Soraka could mana up an ADC, AP mid, etc. That soraka is gone and I don't see riot adding that functionality back to her any time soon. So with that in mind, are we ever going to see another champ who can restore allies' mana?

My guess? Probably not.

Mana battery generally encourages the Zigg's+Athene's stall the game for 50 minutes plays. Very endurance and poke heavy, lacking a lot of excitement and action. Not that boring strategies should be shunned, but rather safe stratagies that are always going to have merit shouldn't be rewarded over stupid but extremely entertaining strategies that are fun to watch and play. Mana-battery is on the wrong side of this and in general doesn't add a whole lot of interest to a game. It's more fullfilling a statistical combo that's possible for the sake of doing it, rather than focusing on gameplay.

I'm kind of assuming Riot is going to stop releasing champions at some point and their current release scheduled doesn't have much room for more though. If they manage to release another 50: chances are much better such a mechanic could be added and a kit built with such a function in mind, with it's set of pitfalls and aesthetics to make it work. I just find it extremely unlikely Riot has enough new releases in them to add mana-battery back.
