Agreed, my proposed solution is to make supports more tanky across the board lategame instead of being laughable roadkill for 4 players on the map. Okay, Leona, Taric maybe Thresh (hello Mr Nerf Hammer), but most of the others are a joke if caught out of perfect position.
Since many lowish tier players like me are often out of position, it's not very attractive to be facerolled instantly. It creates a feeling of powerlessness even when supports can bring a lot to the table (in short, infrequent, situational bursts). By the end of the game you don't feel anywhere near "Godlike" or "Legendary". No, that feeling is reserved for others.
I do not agree with giving supports more dps, they are not bruisers, but by the end of the game I think it's reasonable that supports should be able to take a couple of seconds of ADC heat. Except Sona ;)
Low tier lane bully Thresh (hello Mr Nerf Hammer) was a blast, but I had to start health quints and Doran's shield for it to work. Not very supporty. Overall, the whole concept of a support as a pure ADC bodyguard/wardbot is overrated and now ADC champs are balanced around having someone to change their nappies.
