So what's an good way for testing out new champions?

Simply put, I tried out Warwick, I learned that all he can use is melee attacks, therefore, he must charge straight into the enemy in order to farm Gold. But this didn't sit well with me nor my team, for I have kept dying with him...Cue an irate team who voted to surrender.

you sound really really new. haha. I recommend playing against beginner bots until you can absolutely wreck them, and then intermediate bots until you can absolutely wreck them. start with one champion and only spam that so you dont have to focus too much on learning new champions.

if you are not that new, and are just struggling to pick up new champs, the best way is to get a full understanding of their kit in a bot game and once you do go into normal blind pick or draft pick and spam it. team builder if you are ok with long queue times. just spam it until you really understand what works and what doenst.

some champions don't do well in lane. that is just a thing. some take longer to scale.

when learning certain champions you can see what their strengths and weaknesses are. when they are strong and when they arent. this knowledge will make you better and you only get it by playing that champion a lot and trying to learn while playing them rather than worrying so much about winning. obviously you will try to win, but my point is its more about learning when you can and cant fight. and how.

I tried playing against the bots for an while, but I find them to be somewhat easy to exploit; so I went to PvP for an better challenge, needless to say, I got what I wished for. But my first MMO has thought never to retreat because you're usually too slow to do it, anyways. Oh well, old habits die hard, I guess.

easy to exploit yes, but one thing bots do well, is punish you for positioning mistakes and being overly aggressive. knowing when to fight and when to back off is pretty important.

running is not a bad thing in this game as even if you cant completely outrun your opponent, it buys you time to get your cooldowns back up. also known as kiting. you can run as warwick and every 5 seconds or so you can throw out another Q and sustain. it might not save you, but its the best option sometimes.

I personally always tell new people that you should play bot games (intermediate if beginner is too easy) until you can stomp so hard that its laughable. when you can buy an occult/mejais and KNOW you are going to get it full stacked it means you understand how this works and what mistakes are in the bots programming rather than "lol they just run straight at me and i have more damage than them". because even bots will unload all their abilities on you at once the moment you get in range and it teaches you to respect that.

I've seen new players think they are doing well but then they go in 1 v 5 vs bots and die instantly and are like damn. they used all their stuff on me. and its like yeah, no shit. thats what anyone would do.

You can't really jungle at level 7, so I'd not try Warwick until you at least get the summoner's spell smite. He's a good champion to learn the jungle with, but taking him into a lane is just not a great idea.

So what else is he good at besides slowly killing the minions and increasing my allies attack power?

As an example.

Warwick, with the Sated Devourer jungle enchantment, is one of the best duelists in the game, boasting insane damage, healing, and survivability.

Warwick's damage with a Blade of the Ruined King, Sated Devourer, and Wit's End is so high that he can nearly one shot the enemy ADC.

The way Warwick works in the jungle is that he power farms the jungle, and doesn't really gank very often without his ult (which is a near guaranteed kill for his laners if used properly). Warwick is also a master of soloing dragon early, and is also capable of easily soloing Baron with his standard build.

Pretty much this.

I'd recommend watching Youtubers like Anklespankin or LCS streams. They'll give you an idea of how the game is played at level 30 and how to play different champions. From there, it's just practice.

Yeah, the new player experience is pretty bad.

Warwick is a very sub-par laner, so I'd wait until you can jungle before you try him, as I said.

What lanes do you most like to play, and what champions have you tried?

I prefer either top or bot nowadays when it comes to laning.

So far, I've tried Garen (he was ok, but he didn't really suit me), Jinx is great, I didn't like Lux on account on how fragile she was, I ddin'r really care much for Ashe because of crowd-control issues....and I guess that's it.

My honest advice as one newbie to another: Play the free champions against bots and play ARAM. Playing the free champions against bots gives you a good idea of what their kit does and then being able to play them in ARAM allows you to learn how to teamfight with them. Once you've done both feel free to roll them onto Summoner's Rift. I only just returned to LoL Recently and am re-learning the game myself but back when I first began years ago ARAM was considered good teamfight practice.

Take them directly into ranked without ever playing them before or even knowing what their abilities are. Its what most people in solo que do.
