I Have An Awful Time Against Darius

I have an awful time against Darius, and I think he's broken. How the fuck do I beat this champion? He just walks on me and I die. If I try to trade or fight him I die. I can't farm under tower because his tankyness allows him to dive turret. I can't beat him no matter what I do. How do I beat this cancer?

Darius is the "test" matchup in toplane imo

nearly any champion can beat him (except like, Malphite, but you really shouldn't be first picking someone that prone to lane bullying) but it requires you to know your champion, to know Darius, and to know how to play against him as your champion.

Not at all, Anonagon is simply wrong.

Certain champions, like sion, simply cannot win against darius no matter how hard you try, assuming darius isn't braindead.

But, but but but but.

Certain champions like sion, plus a jungler, can beat darius :)

Otherwise when you're up against someone like me (a darius main) who is going to go into an easy matchup with the mindset of making your life absolutely fucking miserable, the appropriate response is to become butt buddies with your turret and wait for your chance to hopefully contribute mid-late game

Well, you see. I play a lot of Irelia and Singed. Singed doesn't really win any lane at all. Irelia is strong, but against Darius or Olaf, I struggle. Playing a ranged top usually isn't an option because our jungler might lock in Lee Sin, Rengar, or Kha'zix. It's also hard to gank him sometimes, because unless you have burst, he's just going to heal himself back to full HP.

You pick a ranged champion because hes 100% prone to being kited.

First if he rushes dead mans he wont have phage if he rushes phage he wont have dead mans..

Those take time bud.

You forgot Kennen and Jayce (who are basically the meta top laners atm).

Any ranged top laner works, although Lissandra can be tricky, because once he gets item 3211 he doesn't care about your damage. Still doesn't matter though, as Liss you want to make plays on the map with summoner 12 , so as long as you don't let him kill you and you can get the other lanes fed, you're gucci.

Pretty much what Anonagon said. Darius is extremely strong in lane, but everything in his kit is highly telegraphed and has rather free counterplay.

Q has a very small radius that actually deals a lot of damage and stacks his passive.

W is a hefty slow with an aa reset

E is a long CD pull with a slow, doesn't stack passive. The passive portion basically means you should build health really quickly too, since armor is not as efficient vs Darius.

Ult has a 0.5 (I think) wind up before it triggers and only deals good damage if you have 5 stacks. Ult also gives a bleed stack.

Darius is arguably one of the strongest laners, but late game he is extremely prone to kiting and has a hard time fighting unless you have a strong primary engage champion.
