A question for all my fellow Kayn players.

So I've been playing Kayn for the past week or so, and I think it's safe to assume that I've found my new main (seriously my match history says it all lol). However, there is only one thing about his kit that bothers me. That is, I find it very difficult to go into his Darkin form without having to wait 4 minutes. In almost every single game I've played with him I've had to either go Shadow Assassin or wait 4 minutes in order to go full blown Darkin. In fact I can only recall one time I was able to unlock his Darkin form the normal way. So if there is anybody out there who knows how to consistently go into his Darkin form, can you please share with me how you do it?

It actually works this way:

In the early game, each orb weighs less. That means you might hit someone 50 times in the first minute but you probably wont get your transformation.

As the game progresses, each orb weighs more. So while you may have camped a melee champ, if you hit ranged champions later on in the game, the orbs from those ranged champions will weigh more than the orbs you got from camping a melee champ.

Kayn effectively has 2 bars: Only the one that's ahead will show. Post 10 or 11 minutes, and you manage to score a kill on a melee champ, blowing your full combo+autoattacks and more, chances are you'll get Darkin form. Even if you camped a lane, maybe even got a kill or two, those orbs dont have as much impact on filling up the bar as your one kill after 10 minutes.

tl;dr: Later the game goes, the orbs are worth more in terms of filling up the bar. Kayn has 2 bars, only the one that's ahead will show.

Thanks, I found this to be very helpful. Throughout my games as Kayn I have noticed that the value of the orbs increases as the game progresses, but I didn't think about saving melee champions for later.

i think the way it works is the type of stuff that u accumulate (dont know how else to put it) when u hit the max, meaning if u atk a melee champ and it caps ur transform bar i believe it makes u the darkened form.

from what i notice, it doesnt matter what champion you stacked on. ive killed 2 melees and still went shadow by killing 1 ADC to get the last passive orbs, and the vice versa effect has happened too. it seems that if your orb stacks are at 99% or something, whichever champion you kill decides which form you take, regardless of what you accumulated before. idk if thats a bug or intentional, but its kind of annoying. i play kayne mid, so i get a ton of stacks from harassing the mid laner with W and getting kills off him, but i still go darkin just because i killed 1 melee champion at 99% orbs DESPITE the fact that my orbs is only at 99% in the first place from harassing and getting kills on the ranged midlaner...

Each orb is worth more the later the game goes. You might harass someone for 10 minutes straight, but one kill on a melee champ will fill up the darkin side if you blew your full combo to do it after a certain point in time.
