Riot... good job.

No, literally. Good job.

Since the boards are literally overrun with solo queue fanatics, I've decided to post something about this discussion in the consenting perspective. I couldn't be any happier that this folly is being put to rest.

Yes, you really messed up the communication about solo queue, but at least you've acknowledged your mistake. Plus, you've mentioned earlier in the season that it was very likely that the game couldn't handle both solo queue and dynamic queue. As the people who wanted solo queue claimed that you weren't telling them the whole truth, their denial just made them more blind to the truth, and less receptive to the changes.

I started playing League when solo queue was the norm, and I disliked how little influence you had over what role you picked, and the amount of toxicity that was present in both games. Both of these issues were resolved with dynamic queue, so naturally I started to advocate for dynamic queue to be kept. I didn't care about team fairness; you're supposed to win some and lose some anyway.

I'm sorry to all of the people who wanted solo queue, but dynamic queue has just as many negatives as solo queue. Dynamic queue can be just as fun. You just have to have a different mindset.

(And to those who claim that Riot isn't listening to their player base... are you serious? The people who post about wanting solo queue back barely make up a percent of the actual player base in North America.)

And to Riot; let this be a lesson to you. Communication is important, maybe even more important than the changes themselves. In the end, despite minor protests on the boards, you stuck with what you thought will make League of Legends a better game. As players, we should trust you. You created this awesome game for us, and we shouldn't let one small change ruin the experience. You know best, since you are, like, the experts here.

Let this major debate and division of the players just be a unfortunate chapter in LoL history. We can change, and we can still have fun playing LoL! [slayer-jinx-wink]

While I appreciate the candor and optimism, I think most people are distressed by the idea that a 3-4 man premades can hurt their games, in turn their mmr, and potentially LP if they play ranked. It's feast or famine. When you're playing with skilled, communicative, and team oriented premades, it's great. It's when it's not that it becomes the issue.

I love dynamic queue for lessening the fighting over roles. I say lessen because we all have heard and/or experienced the phenomenon of a player demanding/harassing to have a different role, ultimately holding the team hostage. What I don't love is those times when the majority of my team only cares about their premade or in all honesty, them not playing well. In solo queue you had a better chance with other randoms making up where one or two players lacked.

Both queues have merits and flaws. I do like dynamic, but it also frustrates me to no end at times.

I agree.

Considering that I don't play ranked (yet), I know I'm a little bit biased and may be viewed as one of those "casuals." I have also heard woes from mostly ranked players about dynamic queue lately, so I'm not really in a position to doubt THOSE people.

I try to be as optimistic as possible. I've found through life experiences that usually I have more fun if I don't let anything tilt me. Sometimes tilting is inevitable (I mean, when someone goes AFK RIGHT when you're fighting that last team fight you could win... I get a little sad).

The same could be said about dynamic queue; it's not the best, but when I bypass what isn't important to me and focus more on what is (it differs from player to player, but for me it is position selection and less toxicity, as I mentioned before), I have few problems.

Thanks for your kind comment! :)
