Tryndamere Ult idea

This is just a random idea I had while loading a game

Tryndamere's ultimate doesn't really have any interactivity to it its just 'Press R to not die' like an awful QTE

what if the length of his ultimate was determined by the amount of fury he currently has generated

at 0 Fury his ult would prevent death for 2 seconds and it would increase by 1 second for every 30 Fury for the full 5 seconds at 90+

instead of gaining Fury on activation since you'd want it to be as full as possible, it would reward the same amounts on Kills, and half as much on Assists

it would encourage smarter play and I think it would also fit thematically - the angrier he gets, the more he resists death

what do you think .3.

UH OH, I HAVE TO ACTUALLY TRY...

For real though, this is a really cool idea. It would also be cool for its duration to increase by 1 or .5 seconds when he gets a kill or assist. That might be overboard though.

Idk, tryndamere most of the time split push. It's really easy for him to gain full fury on split pushing and going to be hard to shut down on a full fury tryndamere for 5 sec. You probably have to sent 3 guys to stop him.

I do want to mention that tryndamere really needs more teamfight capability. The reason tryndamere is not good at teamfight because cc and ignite can kill him when he used his ult. I do believe he needs more utility on his pre-6 kit that will help him fight in teamfight because most of his pre-6 kit are only good as 1v1 duelist.

This is a great idea, but when will a Tryn ever be ulting and not have full/close to full fury already? Giving him some sort of mechanic that determines how long his ult will last is an awesome idea and promotes planning and smart thinking instead of mindlessly spinning into a fight and winning because "lol I can't die" then spinning away, but most of the time the Tryn will have some fury off of the minion wave that he is split pushing. However, this would reduce his teamfighting capabilities quite a bit, as most of the time he won't be able to build up his fury before the fight breaks out.

Great idea though!

If his ultimate's duration was buffed based on fury when he uses it, he'd become even more worthless in a team fight, and a better split pusher.

This is not a path I feel should be encouraged, as he's already insanely frustrating to split push against and his team fighting is mediocre at best.

I like the idea of rewarding players for actually killing things (or perhaps, by taking damage) during his ultimate. It seems counter-intuitive to use it as a get away spell (it's current primary use for it).

You'd be taking the 1 aspect of Tryndamere's kit that lets him contribute to team fights, and prevent it from helping him team fight: encouraging him to split-push 24/7 because his entire kit is now 100% useless in a 4v4+ situation.

Also - most champions get to spend resources to front-load their kit and fallow it with sustained damage, forcing a champion to open up with sustained damage just so they can do anything (when there kit has no burst to begin with) is a recipie for distaster, Tryndamere's already questionable performance notwithstanding.

As for the whole preface of interaction - there is a solid amount of interaction you have with any duration based buff. You can not be next to the champion that activated it, you can apply crowd-control against them, you can activate defensive measures like Zhonya's to whether the storm, you can bait them into utalizing it at sub-optimal times.

Defensive and offensive steroids are subjugated to as wide of counter-play options as skillshots in most practical senses. In Tryndamere's case - you can even just catch him offguard and have everybody 100%-->0% him before he can even ult in the first place. Not dropping below 1 HP is pretty useless if you go from 100% to 10% HP while you're ultimate is active, so Tryndamere's ultimate already encourages that glass-cannon to take a bit of a beating before using it optimally.
