Leaverbuster system doesn't incentivize people to come back

I will sprinkle some salt and commence a board ritual as I walk up to the podium. I will have my french fries prepared in advanced to gather the bucket over my head in case I get some more.

Jokes aside, Leaverbuster is a good system until you see players who come back, have done well on average, be good contributors, and still be punished. When a player leaves a game, coming back doesn't benefit them so they don't want to come back and help the team. They still get punished severely right.

If you play a SR game, people often don't come back because they know LB will punish them. Thus, they feel coming back to save the game a waste of time. Imagine your toplaner, being a strong frontliner, AFK'ing and deciding it's not worth it to try as they're punished. The rest of the team gets rewarded if they win but he gets the same results win/lose. He/she doesn't care. Nothing is in it for him and he'll be wasting time.

Will you be angered? Yes, but they're human. League is a game. They have lives and better ways to spend it. Thus, they simply weighed the outcome with the rewards. Except, they get no rewards. Nothing. For 30 minutes, they AFK'd for only five, despite going 20/7. Now, they get punished and do not wish to dedicate their time any more.

They'll still be reported, triggering the LB system as well.

Let's look at kill participation, win rates, honors, and ratio of activity. I believe players with at least 60% kill participation, a 6.0 ratio (30 to 5 minutes), and a win deserve to have their rewards given to them.

Once players see that "if you don't come back, you'll be punished", they already know they're punished and don't care anymore. Let's make it a legitimate statement.

Then you miss the point of Leaverbuster.

It isn't an insurance company with accident forgiveness.

It's a clear warning of what WILL happen if you leave the game for ANY reason.

I agree that life happens. Emergencies, power loss, technical difficulties, etcetera.

But the system is impartial so as to prevent abuse. There is no evidence to support player claims that there was a legitimate reason for them leaving.

If anyone could get away with a punishable offense by saying, 'Something came up, sorry', then EVERYONE would.
