Red Smite. (Challenging.)

I feel like single target MELEE ONLY abilities should be able to proc red smite(aside from basic attacks). I was just wondering why this wasn't thought of earlier. I thought it would be greatly helpful to junglers who need to get in close but don't really rely on auto attacks to dish out damage. Does anyone else think this way, or is there a general problem with this, where someone of multiple someones would get extremely powerful from it?
