Why not just rename the game to “league of executioners”?

Glîtchy··2 votes·897 views

Cause the past several ults have been executions and/or ults have been updated to being such, a few examples:

Veigar, Cho, Darius, Garen, Draven, Jinx, Pyke, urgot, Akali, zed, Kayle’s upcoming ult

Seriously what’s the deal?

Kayle's ult isn't an execution -- it's just a nuke. A sizeable nuke, but just a nuke. I believe you mean her E?

The big AoE burst with her shield in the trailer is what I mean

That is her ultimate. It is a flat-damage ultimate with no execution indicator.

Yeah that's just flat damage. Base damage plus her AD and AP scaling. Her E does percent missing ho damage though

uh, what counts as an "execution", because Darius, Cho, and Draven ults are not executions.

Cho ult, displays when it will in fact kill, Darius ult resets upon kill and draven ult scales with missing hp on the opposition

executions are damage that scales with missing health. Draven's ult does not scale with missing HP. Zed ult isn't an execution either. WTF do you think an execution is?

Zed ult, have you ever survived that as a squishy champ when he landed everything? No? Rest my case

So because you got hit by every ability at Zed's disposal, that makes it an execute? I guess Soraka is now an execute champion. (/s)

[zombie-brand-facepalm]

An execute is damage that scales with the target's missing health or instantly kills a champion under a certain threshold.

Pyke and Urgot are the only champions that can instantly kill someone below a certain threshold. If you get hit with the ability under X amount of health, you will die.

Veigar, Riven, Evelynn, Akali, Garen, (etc.) are champions that do amplified damage against champions with X amount of health. It will not insta-kill 100% of the time.

False, that is only one type of execution, and Zed's ult is widely considered to be an exexute, especially because when used as intended and to intentional effect, it will finish off opponents as zed leaves the fight

Ok I didn't know the missing HP component of draven's ult. New to me

Draven's, not as much.

Darius and Cho's, absolutely.

An execution is something that reaps great benefits being used as a finisher - Darius and Pyke reset on kill (with Pyke also auto-killing anyone under a certain hp percentage even if they have a shield other than Kayle ult) and ChoGath gives him feast stacks that permanently raise his stats until his next death if it kills his target. I'll give Urgot the tag as well - his auto-kills in a similar way to Pyke under a certain percentage of HP.

Jinx, Draven, Garen, and Akali ults are simple finishers: they deal damage based off of %missing hp, but dont really give other effects.

Generally anything that gives some sort of benefit if it's the last ability used to finish off an enemy. For example, Darius' ult resets on kill, Cho's gives bonus HP and Zed's acts as the last little oomph of damage that finishes off a squishy target. Draven's probably doesn't count as an execute in any capacity though.

That's not an execute at all. An execution is "Damage that scales with the target's missing health" according to the wiki. By that logic Cull is an execute, Nasus Q is an execute, Annie Q is an execute, etc.

Relic shield is an execute because it deals damage based off of a targets missing (or remaining) HP. Garen's ult is an execute because it deals damage based off of missing HP. Volibear W is an execute because it deals damage based off of missing HP.

Maybe by technical definition in League of Legends perhaps, however it is almost universally used to describe Darius ult, Cho'Gath ult, the final tick of Zed ult etc. even if it doesn't deal extra damage based on missed health. Would you call Morgana W an execute just because it does bonus %missing health damage?

kingDeDeDarius2 votes

That's fantastic, but the wiki isn't some all knowing and all encompassing source of untainted truth, especially when it comes to video games..

kingDeDeDarius1 votes

Wrong. Draven's ult is not an execution, but darius's and Cho's are considered executions due to the benefits derived from executing your opponents with them. Just because they don't deal extra damage to low ho targets doesn't mean they aren't designed as executes

Tobykachu1 votes

That's literally less than 10% of League's current roster. It would be more appropriate to call it League of Women or League Humans.

Ummmm...Kaylee's ult isn't an execution, and most if those ults you listed have been executes for quite a few years now..
