Can we talk about Protobelt?

Seriously, this item needs to be nerfed. It was supposed to be an item that low mobility champions could buy to get close, but for whatever reason Riot decided to make it's active do significantly more damage than any of the other hextech items, while also making it the most cost efficient of the bunch.

The bolts from the active shouldn't damage the same target multiple times. Seriously.

From the pre-season patch hopefully hitting PBE tomorrow:

Protobelt

  • Damage taken per additional bolt :: Decreased from 20% >>> 10%
  • AP Ratio :: Decreased from 0.35 to 0.25

Short context: Yep, we agree it's putting out too much damage, which removes what should be more of a damage versus mobility trade off.

Less damage and a longer cooldown would be nice. They remove DFG because it's a point and click nuke, then add an item that's an AOE nuke but gives you tankiness and a dash, with like a 40 second cooldown. Seems legit. xD

I think the biggest issue for the item is the ones who are seen as the worse abusers were already decently mobile, and sit solidly in the high burst category of champs rather sustained (other than rumble). Another way to look at it is that it is doing ludens job a lot better of increasing your frontload burst with increased mobility.

my only issue with proto-belt is that items are suppose to add damage to YOUR KIT, the damage YOU DO, but protobelt actually out scales some AP champs base abilities with its damage which i think is complete bullshit

I'm surprised it took this long to be brought up as a problem item; not only given it's burst & mobility combo, but the fact it's already being abused by mobile or bursty magic dealers. As predicted and ignored.

I'm personally onboard with just removing it. The idea that the best way Riot could come up with to fix immobile champs was to give them mobility sits very badly with me.
