Really Awkward To Play Tryndamere and Ekko vs Dark Harvest

When the damage was front loaded, I could generally wait till 40% or lower to R. Now, I just get randomly deleted seemingly out of the blue before I can react. I can't guess how long I can fight before having to use R.

I really hate this rune right now. It makes trying to go for outplays so much riskier because damage is so hard to judge now. So much for clarity and not being surprised by burst. This is so much worse. With the old DH, at least I see, "oh, his combo took me to 1/4 so I have another second or two to fight before I need to R out." Now it's just gambling to fight at lower HPs (especially with how popular this rune is) and it makes these champions feel a lot worse imo. I used R on these champions mostly for outplays and now I feel like I have to use it mostly as an oops button when I'm at 40-50% HP still.

Ekko jungle was hit especially hard. The new DH doesn't suit him well in the jungler because he's pretty weak early game and can't get a lot of stacks. It's also just doesn't have the same late game potential as before in terms of raw damage. His win rate in Diamond+ took a big nose dive despite it being played mostly by mains.

Good. Now you have to actually judge whether or not you need to ult rather than just hanging on to it until the very last second and mashing it while under 7 types of hard CC.

Honestly, effects like that should carry less of a benefit if used when low health than at higher health. Aatrox's ult is a perfect example of how it should work, imo - If you pop it right before you die you still revive, but with barely any health. Use it at the start of the fight and if you revive you regain much more health, but you risk it being wasted entirely.

The only exception should be Kindred's ult or things like it, due to the large risks already associated with using it.

You could never ult. under CC and that's the opposite of having to "judge" anything. It's in fact exactly when using it at the last second that you must be careful in evaluating your HP. Randomizing damage at lower HP doesn't mean you have to be more skillful. It means you have to be luckier.

ekko is broken anyways who cares

That's the most hilariously misguided comment I've seen in ages. Ekko hasn't been broken for over two years and in fact, he hasn't even been top tier most of that time (in either mid or jungle). Although, I will admit that he was A tier in SQ towards the latter part of this season. Also, he tends to be decent into most matchups and is mained more often than most mids (which will likely raise his performance just through sheer skill). The average Ziggs or Vel'Koz doesn't have as much experience as the average Ekko.

I think the preseason changes are a power down for Ekko (particularly for jungle).
