For me this is a realy interesting thing ... because riot created a champion that is centered around his ultimate which can be easily removed
how does that affect his power ? i know that there is something to it ... since there always is something to it
and this is to be honest the only case like this ... there is no other champion in this game that can be countered by anything in this game

LaowPing2 votesThe same applies with Zed. Zed can still kill with out his ult. The ult is just his best way to do it. And many champions get countered by items. Malzahar and WW get countered by QSS. Fiora gets countered by thornmail.

If by Fiora, you meant almost any ADC (Melee and Ranged) then, yes Thornmail is a counter to Fiora.

for zed its basicaly ... get to game ... play till your first target gets zhonya ... stick to the other guytill he gets qss then he has to work this out some way since a big chunk of his damage gets blocked
guys like ww/malzausualy dont see their counter items unless they go realy big or nobody cares to stop their ulkts fiora is countered by thornmail which is carreid by tanks ... this doesnt hurther this much either
meanwhile for zed those items mean basicaly crippling his competition into the game ... also a fed zed doesnt do as much as other champion would due to the fact his ult is removed my question is simple ... what ballance decisions does this push on riot the way i see it ... zed gets to have more power distributed among the rest of his kit (what you said)

LaowPing2 votesWarick see's his counter item all the time. A good Warick ult can mean death as long as he has follow up. I always buy QSS on ADC's in order to deal with it. Malzahar isn't all too popular of a pick so people haven't made a habit of buying QSS against him. Even when I'm doing well, I've only had someone pick it up once against me. Fiora goes top lane which is where most of the tanks lane. Even bruisers would build defensively. I played Gnar against her and she zoned me until I got it. At that point she was useless in the lane because she couldn't fight me anymore.
As far as the original question, Zed isn't reliant enough on his ult for it to be a major problem. He still has plenty of a chance to kill his opponent once or twice before Zhonyas comes up. Then he gets a chance to kill the ADC. Zed will still do a lot of damage without his ult, especially as he reaches late game and can kill squishes without it. Riot are the guys with the specific numbers but if it did become a serious problem they would probably change his ult or buff other aspects of his kit to accommodate.

AMYS GRAVE1 votesHis high AD build means he melts turrets really fast, and usually you want to run when split pushing because if one person shows up there are usually more (unless of course they are all acounted for, then go crazy). His kill threat is good early/mid game for picks but once you reach mid/late game you tend to lose that threat. His split pushing threats are mostly his waveclear, high AD to take turrets quickly if unanswered, good dualing, and high mobility. He is answerable if the enemy team sends the right person to stop him, but his split pushing is his biggest strength, which is not defined by his ult.
